Dry initial start or dry as in daily type dry?

Initial = Never I always wait till I see pressure on the gauge before connecting the Zap.

Daily = The Filter "should" have an anti drain back valve and modern Oil is pretty good so it doesn't phase me at all I just hit the key and go

GR: Nope it's plumbed as an accumulator only no valve at all.

i mean initial- since my cooler filter thermostat and cooler, are gonna dry, prolly will fill my filter though. every day starting not to concerned with it as of now.

so you have a accumulator how do you release the pressure with no valve??

I pull the plugs and crank it on the starter for 30/40 second bursts till I see pressure on the gauge this fills everything before the initial start.

The Accumulator pumps up with Oil pressure then if the pressure drops for any reason it pumps it's 3 Qt's back into the Main gallery until the pump catches back up.

I don't trust Valves for something as critical as this as one failure means you lose an engine.

plugs out, thats a good idea. thanks for all.. i only got stock oil pressure gauge, will i actually see the pressure raise on it? do you have a aftermarket gauge??

You will see pressure on the gauge- it'll take about 10-15 seconds, and it won't be a huge amount.

Stock gauge on a fresh build I get 25>30 psi on the stock gauge @ 220 rpm crank. (I also have Oil pressure on another sender into the MoTeC)

Mine takes awhile longer to bleed as it has to charge up the 3Qt accumulator as well as fill all the lines and cooler.
