oil grade vs. bearing clearances

Hoping somebody could lend their $.02 on oil weight.

My bottom end was built fairly loose, with the clearance of my mains at .0024" and rods at .0021". I've got a 15W50 break-in oil in the car right now (first start-up is going to be tonight), but wondering what I should switch to after the first few oil changes (will switch to straight 40w after draining the 15W50). This car will be seeing the track (time attack-style events) and is set up with dual remote filters, remote thermostat, cooler, and -10 lines. Given the clearances, I'm leaning toward a 5W40 or 5W50 oil. Any suggestions?

If it is a 40 grade, it won't have a "W", unless you live on Venus. Suggestions? Don't build the engine with .024 clearance.

What are your power goals Adam?

500-600 whp is what I'm aiming for.

I would have gone tighter on clearances if this was going to be more of a daily driver, but that's not the case.
