My engine build is nearly done. They said they took about 10 thou off the block and 10 thou off the head. So thats 20 thou below stock. This is the jdm engines first rebuild i think. So with that much taken off am i ok to use the HKS 1.2mm gasket? Thats what i have now. Im not worried about compression. Am I ok to use the gasket i have now or do i opt. for a thicker one?

I believe that's correct compression.
Stock is 1.0mm hg.

Actually the stock gasket is 1.37mm thick compressed. You took off .5mm...I would go with a 2.0mm MHG.

Why have I been seeing this talk about the stock hg being 1.0mm ?
Or is it 1.0mm compressed?
I have seen quite a few claiming this.

dammit really? ill have to get one overnight or something if thats the case and go through a hassle returning the one i have. the run of the mill hks gasket is 1.2 right?

If you're not going nuts with boost it'll be fine and will improve drivability offboost!

I think id go maximum 15-18PSI no greater. think im good?

You could possibly get away with 18 but you'd need some way to pull a shitload of timing on boost!
