Poodles is right, Thats about the most important mod I have done to my car :D

Driver mod + transmission work. A good driver with a good transmission is able to squeeze way more out of a good motor setup.

Got the block torn down. Compression numbers were as follows

185
185
186
185
187
48

Did not melt the piston, no signs of detonation on any of the 6. Just broke the ring land half way around the piston, its still all in one piece too. Just cracked and broke off. Obviously to much power for the NPR's to handle with 9.8:1.

Time for Forged pistons, stock rods, and a bunch of machine work. Then a T4 manifold and a .68 AR GT35R are going on :)

yep I have, I have gone through 4 of them running them at 18 PSI. They last about 10 passes and get excessive thrust play. I caught the one I have now at a very early stage and has no damage. They just don't last reliably at that boost. I think the 35R on mild boost will surpass the CT26 57 trim by a long shot! Time to get into the 10's!

That's odd, are you running EGR on this motor, if not, how did you delete it. I would fine it weird that you only broke one piston's rings.

I also assume it was .025, not .25 and that's weird, since it is the upper limit, you still had four thou more to the .029 limit.

Thanks, liking your build myself ^! ;)

Couldn't work on my car at all this last week as I had to manage the shop as my brother was in China for the world drift series! After the week was over I was able to pull my car in and put it on the lift to pull the motor and start tearing it down.

Got it out within 2 hours and started ripping it apart.

The current plan is to get it up and running with forged pistons, stock rods, and a 35R. I have a 1JZ auto trans I will be doing some internal work on to also go with the new setup. I don't know yet what I am going to do for pistons, but if at all possible i would like to get a set of custom 9.5:1 compression pistons as I really like to retain the high compression as it helps a tremendous amount with off boost power and spool time, which makes the car that much more fun and streetable.
