When I turn the key to "ON" the charge light and the check engine light don't come on like they should. I tested some things and found out the W pin on the ECU isn't grounding when you turn the key so that's why the check engine light isn't coming on. The engine cranks and everything else seems to work.

I've looked over the alternator wiring several times and it seems fine. All of the plugs from the alternator are wired into their matching color wires from the MA70 body. The big black wire has been extended over to the original connection on the fusebox.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Have you tried grounding that pin?

Yeah, that's how I was able to test the functionality of the light. The ECU is supposed to ground that pin itself though so it can turn the light on and off as needed.

Ok. Take a look at the circuit board for any discolorations/missing circuit paths. Just to clarify, when the W pin is grounded, the light comes on?

Yep the light comes on when W is grounded. I'm hoping it's not the ECU and instead thinking it has something to do with the charge circuit problem. I don't think the ECU is powering up at all.

I can't really look at the ECU board though because the company I bought the clip from sealed it with those 'voids your warranty' stickers.

Hairdryer and patience :p I've modded a few X-Boxes without busting the warranty stickers

EDIT: Do you live in an area with other 1JZs? Swap yours with theres and try it. If it still doesn't work, it's the wiring. If it does, it's your ECU.

that happened to a friend of mine. the CEL wouldn't work on his car; he was running a blitz ecu. we checked the entire CEL circuit for continuity and everything was good.

then we plugged in my ecu and the CEL started working. good luck man, try a good known ecu if possible. hopefully the trouble lies with your wiring and not your ecu.
