He was in his plane (Cessna 182) and the other plane flew into him from his blindspot on the right side. The other plane crash landed in the water and both people got out ok and were rescued within a few mins. Then dad went to land not knowing if he had any landing gear or not. Everyone made it..

There is only a 2% chance of survival in a mid air small plane crash...Whew..

I know what i am thankful for this thanksgiving...

Yeah, luckily he has insurance to cover it. Damage to his plane is pretty minor. Just a wheel skirt, a wing tip and a large dent on the belly pan of the plane is all.. Nothing a few hundered rivets cant fix.. ;)

I can't believe how lucky the other people were that there was a boat right there to rescue them out of that cold water..

Now he gets to deal with the NTSB investigation, I hope he is found not at fault..

I was wondering about fault also. I thought if you were going one direction, you had to be at a certain altitude and since they were going another direction, they should have been at a different altitude...............:dunno:

The main thing is everyone is alright and everyones stories this Thanksgiving, at your house anyways, just got a little more exciting.

Might want to send him to a proctologist to have his spare lucky horse shoes removed :p

Glad everyone's ok, and there's nothing but good stories to tell for the holidays.

Im glad he is ok...almost crashing is a scary thing. I was flying a Cessna 172 with my uncle and I tryed to land with the wind instead of against it. Didn't work out to well. we hit so hard my big ass feet went into the rudder pedals. There is nothing like going down a runway at 80MPH sideways to give you pucker factor. If I had a peice of coal in my butt I would have shit out a diamond! :biglaugh:
At least his plane is better than theirs. :naughty:

glad your dad (and the others) are alright! that's crazy good luck! (mixed with some skill for landing a plane with no landing gear!)

Yeah I still don't have the details on what the other guy was doing. Dad said it was a narrow flight path they were entering or exiting and I think the other guy was having trouble controlling his plane but I really can't figure out how it happened...

Just saw this on CNN. This was an over water crash correct?

Yes, I believe it was over the water when they hit or at least near the water...
