was never a fan of ASrock, im a Asus (Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe FTW) person myself :p

as am I....(P5D WiFi-AP), but works well with both PD940 and Conroe's. I'd have to say, not a good overclocking board, but just to run Conroe on a budget....this would be a steal.

thats true, but then again with any computer. you should never cheap out on the motherboard, especially when you try to build a high performance computer. but for those who just want a simple comp, and not planning to do much (like no gaming and such) this ASrock is perfect.

almost true, except for the part...

this mobo handled me playing BF2 at max graphics settings and never had a hiccup. yes this board is cheap and doesn't have the fancy features as my Asus P5B WiFi-AP, but don't doubt for a min that this board is incapabile of playing games. at the current price of 40 bucks plus shipping, where else can you find a board this affordable and still deliver? Either way, if your not overclocking your computer, this board will perform like most other boards, if not better.

I agree. Isn't the limit in regular Windows XP 2 gigs? You could also go with a 64-bit linux distro to make use of extra RAM.

windows has a limit of either 4 or 8 gigs, x64 version of and OS will actually run a lot slower on 2gigs then x32 version of any OS on 2gigs. It's how they manage the ram...

Well 2^32 is 4GB, so a 32-bit processor will only be able to address up to 4GB of memory, no matter what operating system it is running on. Even in the processor is 64-bit, if the OS is 32-bit then you'll be limited to 4GB, so 8 gigs is right out. I though I remembered the Win XP limit being at 2GB for some reason so I looked it up (http://www.brianmadden.com/content/content.asp?ID=69). It looks like you get up to 2GB dedicated to kernel usage and 2GB for the rest of the applications. So that must be where I got the 2GB limit from.

Anyway, with a 64-bit processor and OS you'll get up to 2^64 addressable memory space, which is 16 exabytes... I don't think we're going to reach that limit in my lifetime, but I could be wrong.

on the performance part, hardcore gamers usually want a system/motherboard that you can overclock with or easily add things on to.. i wasnt really talkin about how it couldnt handle a game.. more that gamers like to mess with their comps
