That is the question

Couple things to consider about this question..

IM NOT DOING THE REBUILD.. a certain person with a certain shop in santa rosa im going to take it too :) ..

Stock rebuild. most likely.

Moving out.. 700 a month. thats including eletricity, water, blah blah.

i pay 450 right now.

Are you talking about moving out of your parents place or moving to a better neighborhood?

Either way, if it's close to a rebuild you may as well wait to move and have a reliable car.

If you're still living with the 'rents, I tell everyone to stay there as long as you can. You'll learn valuable life lessons by moving out, but at a great cost to your pocketbook.
^^^ you got a good point GrimJack. I stayed at my parents till I was 21. I got kicked out. Lived in my car for a few months. Now I rent a house and still have enough money for my bitches.

^ Id rather learn those lessons early on instead of being sheltered :) Nothing good or succesful has come of my old high school buddies that live at home. Ma and pa hinder things to much...

The supra is not what I consider a good partner in learning life lessons with out some cash flow...

The correct answer is rebuild now, then move out. If you do it the other way around, it's probably your supra will become a VERY long term project.

well. first off id like to say. i am a full time meat cutter. i earn decent wages for my age i think. i have some old high school friends and they have high paying jobs... but they either had mom and dads help. or they employed by a family friends business.

but paying 450 for my room at the rents is ok i guess. thats not including all the utilities and what not. i have to pay for my own food and that shit.

That is all based on the parents. I lived at home until I was 23. I'm doing just fine (i'm not going to go into specifics) whereas I know of several other people (some still living at home) that are total burnouts and have done nothing with their lives.

Bad blanket statement.

I moved out and dealt with house by the time I was 18.. It cost me over a g for all the bills for that house.. I had no choice my fam life sucked... If you can gut it till your rebuild is done cool.. If not bail.. You know your current home life better then anyone.

like i said, im not to fancy with rebuilding engines.

i had a friend rebuild a 7M and it spun a bearing due to low oil. (didnt put the right amount of oil since it was a dry fill) and had his oil pump fail on him. soo...

i would rather pay the extra $$ and get it done right.

on that note. i will be dropping in a R154

once i have the money. ill be doing a MK2 7M :) as a project. but my supra is my current DD, when the supra is down.. ill be driving a hyundai accent. lol.

i love the it when u drive a tourqeless econo box and once the supra is road rdy it feels like a Viper

Blanket statement or not, i stand by it. I think you limit anybodies learning and adapting when they know there is a "secerity" blanket near by (mom and dad REALLY gona kick you out for a late rent payment?)

to the OP, not bashing you so please dont take it personally. Obviosuly your rents have some foresight to charge you for bills and what not.

Im just saying that truly being on your own has a way of opening your eyes a bit. When there is no cushin except your own hard work and your wallet "to keep dumb, scared and desperate out of the extra bed rooms" you'll learn quickly.

Nice to see that there are still some people with self-respect out there.

i totally get where u are coming at. but, even tho i have not moved out. i have learned that a budget is a valuable thing to follow.. There really is no secerity blanket. i know i can slide 3 days max after the 1st,

I Have been kicked out before. Roughly a month but thats nothing.

But i knew my personal life was gonna get in the way of this thread.
