there's nothing like having an insurance claims adjuster come to your house and give you the value of your supra...

with 180,000 miles on my NA, its valued at $3,000. wow. its like someone slapping me in the face and saying, "you retard, why spend so much money on this thing?" and then i slap me in the face and say, "you retard, get out there and spend some more money. don't ask questions."

anyway, might have to do with the fact that this car has been "totaled" by the insurance company twice.

haha, right now ive sunk about 2500 in parts, and maybe 7k in labor if i was charging the typical $40 an hr.

i think most of that came from the condition of the exterior. the paint is in great shape, just got repainted a few years ago

I feel ya Clip... I wasnt even done paying for my 86.5 NA *$5000 from a dealer* when it threw a rod bearing, and I paid $3000 for the motor to be rebuilt, and then 3000 miles later it blew the hg... Thats when I found Supra's on line and I learned... ALOT... Not only did I pay $5000 for the car, $3000 for the rebuild, but I also put about $4000 into performance parts, and the car was still no where near where I wanted... And I'll never ever put that kind of money into a car that will never achieve the power and performance goals I want...

7M... stump pullin torque... easy to modify... initial cost for the motor, MUCH less than a 1J or 2J clip...

Personally, I love the 7M... Everytime I get more power out of her, I love it more! Until you've held the wheel on 503 foot pounds of torque, man... MAN! I love it... I cant wait to get my set up done, should have it back in the car next month with numbers by July... Trust me, I'll show you what a 7M can do... If 503 pounds of torque was a blast, I can only imagine what 700+ will be like... Friggin lift the front wheels off the ground...

thats my only problem. id like the ease of pulling a jz from a front clip and having every part that id need, from the IC to the LSD. i dont really look forward to spending a shitload of time trying to source parts thatd work with the 7m

A 7M clip will cost you less than a jz clip, and you get the same parts list... only now you can also buy all the performance parts you like, furthermore, you get the benefit of being able to walk down to your local Toyota dealer and order in any part without having to wait 6 weeks for them to send it from Japan.

thatd be the best option, IMO. just having trouble finding a complete 7m clip. everyone loves selling the engine alone, but no front clip. any ideas?

Parts car! Even if it has a BHG or rod knock, if you plan on building it anyway, who cares... Besides, ANY motor you buy, whether its a clip or a "JDM" motor, you should tear it apart and refresh it anyway... There is NO way I would buy a motor and throw it in my car, spend all the time money etc getting it in only to find out its gotta come out for a build...

shit. here we go again. id pick up a parts car, but we are severly limited by the number of supras in southwest Va. I have tabs on all 4 of the mk3s around here, and the 3 mk4s. had to drive 4 hrs to get to a junkyard that had a hatch for me.

Don't limit it to the area. Buy one anywhere. It won't cost that much to greyhound to the next state and pick one up... only cost a little bit more to borrow a buddy's pickup and rent a car trailer for a couple days...
