I just got a Lexus Air Flow Meter today and I was just wondering if any of you know if it's just a plug and play part on a GTE or am I supposed to switch out the sensor or switch the wires on the connector or something, cause I've tried just plugging the air flow meter off the Lexus and I get an idle problem for a bit then sounds normal after a while but when I accelerate idle drops then I tried the sensor off of the GTE on the AFM off of the Lexus and the same thing happens, can anyone give me some info if I'm doing something wrong. PLEASE HELP!

So basically the problem with running that Lex 'body' is just the gap under the honeycomb where unmetered aieflow can enter?

kk, I'll keep this in mind and just order more parts! :biglaugh:

LOL u did not read the link..... No the entire housing itself allow 25% more air at the same "meter readings" however with minor tuning you can compensate for the 25% more entering the engine on the stock fuel system. Now I hope there is no longer a valid argument on that. Its been proven over and over that the 400’s can support pretty good power.

Some will say you can reset the ecu and let the ecu relearn with the setup but I would not trust that idea unless you have some way of knowing what your fuel ratio is unless you don’t mind the having the idea that your car is a bit quicker and when you are getting on it really hard you melt lets say your number 6 piston which is normally the hottest one. Meaning you need a wideband.

The ECU knows the airflow based on the size and design of the afm box. When you increase the size of the afm the computer doesn't see the difference. So you are increasing the airflow through the engine and the mixture isn't changing. So you will run lean. the electronics are the same in both the lexus afm and the stock afm. The ecu was programmed to work with that size afm box only. But when you increased the injector size and the size of the afm together you are increasing fuel/air in approximately the same proportion.

This is the easiest i can describe it.

yeah you need 550's or some way to tune your fuel. iam running a lexus afm with 440's and its throwing a code for the afm and everyonce in a while my idle will drop and ill start running rich at idle but just give it some gas and it goes away.

you don't "need" 550's for the afm upgrade, BUT you do need to do some tuning. A lexus afm + 440's are a nice pair if done correctly.

PEace.......

im running the Lex AFM with the 440s and its leaning out at 15psi on my SP61. I bumped up my fuel pressure to 42psi (at idle WITH the vac line) and it smoothed the idle out and doesn't feel like its pulling timing in the higher RPMS anymore.
