Nice write up, I wonder what the Blue or super white would look like?
I know the color blue is less stressful to the eyes.

so what would you say roughly cost is to redo cluster/ignition key ring/floor lights/glovebox in blue ?

Very inexpensive. The whole package should cost between $30-35. The cluster alone will cost $20.

hey, i see that you were battling against uneven light distribution (read: hotspots) how about these, they're a bit down the page. WLED-x5 Wedge based bulbs

http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html

here's the discription:
5-LED super wide angle 194/168 wedge base bulbs.
4 radially mounted 3mm LEDs emit most of the light from the sides of the bulb
1 High Flux LED emits from the end of the bulbs - non-polarized bulbs

seems like they'd produce a more even light pattern. more even then the other "wide angles" (the first listed) because they actually have LED's facing the sides. :) i think i might give them a try in a couple weeks. :)

dcr, that's awesome! if i didnt have about a $1000 credit card bill coming in on supra parts, i'd pick some up now, too.

i'm doing mine in red, too. let me know how it comes out! i'm really interested. i dont want hotspots, at all! if those produce hotspots, i guess i'll just get regular red bulbs for the cluster, and LED's for the climate control unit. thanks!

also, here's some information on RED LED numerical displays for the climate control unit. i know that's of interest to several people, including jimi87-t and i. did some googlesearching, and ran across this. it appears that it would work in our climate control units:

This post is mainly for shaeff. But for anyone else who may want to see. These are the LEDs with the one in the middle and 4 around it. The oil pressure one was a pain in the arse to put in. Once you put the bulb in it widens the base of the socket and wont fit into the gauge cluster. Same with the key ring LED. But I got the key ring LED in but not the oil gauge. I didnt order enough of the 194s so ill be taking it out again anyway. Other than the 8 day wait on shipping it was ok.

I'll post something up. Went with the same type of leds dcrusupra87 used, but in white. I like the look of it all, except for the oil gauge. It doesn't light up that well.
