Wow, looked at my pics from work last night and the computer screen there makes the pics look really, really dim....can anyone else make them out?

Just a follow up post:

My gauges work fine now, they were not hardwired after all, we found the source of the problem. Basically the gauges or something.... fried the dimmer switch, so it was on full power and kept burning itself out.

$110 later after getting a new dimmer/rheostat from toyota the gauges light up nice and blue and beautiful ;) ... very bright... no hotspots, i'm thoroughly pleased!

I don't know how the dimmer got fried.... maybe it was on it's way out, its not cheap to replace but in the end, it was all worth it!

I know this is a double post But! I bought the LED's from superbright LEDs and they are direct replacements for the regular dash bulbs no resistors to solder on. Altho I believe the Oil Pressure replacement needs to be trimmid back so it can actually reflect the light properly. other than that they kick ass. Today I am going to sand off the covering on the needles that should make them stand out a little better.

I guess I'll do a write-up tomorrow with pics since my temp gauge light stopped working for some reason so I have to take it out.

The LEDs are here....
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-...t=CAR&keywords=&cart_id=9053046.28322&next=50

About a quarter of the way down the page there is the "WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb"and a little more than halfway down the page there is the "T1.5 Instrument LED bulb" that you need for this. I'll post how many of each bulb tomorrow.

I put the 5 LED Wide angles in my dash and it looks sweet. I didnt want to go aftermarket faces. Since I have a red/black theme going I figured I could stay with the stock black faces and just swap in the reb bulbs. Ive tried it with the red 194's you can buy at autozone and it just wasnt intense enough.

I'm sure I may have missed this, probably a few pages back, but are all the little bulbs behind the cluster 194's? If so, I think I still have some blue LED 194's left over from when I did my 3G...

actually I was a bit confused on that as well. In the original write up I thought it mentioned 194's but when I pulled the bulbs in my 86.5NA they were 158's (same base differnt wattage). When I did my bulb swap for my 89T they all came out 194's, so Toyota may have changed it at some point. Either way the 194's 5-LED wide angles work great! I didnt need the 74 cause I have Autometers in place of the stockers.

Bump for Question: I plan to get a blue and red colored reverse guage face kit from speedhut. Should I install white LED bulbs? Has anyone tried this combo? I'm hoping to have the blue text look like blue LED's.

Also, to make the needles to glow red, do I have to paint them red somehow? or custom install a red LED behind each needle?
