Ok, Here is the deali-o.

I have had Glasses For maybe 10 or so years, I like em, but just recently, I thought about that lasik procedure.

Heres what I've been thinking, My mom got it done, a lonnnng time ago, and I'm sure that procedures have changed drastically since then.

I know it works.

Another thing I would love is to be able to wear sunglasses, easier, rather than hunt for what I want, in prescription.(I love sunglasses)

The only real downside, is that I can see, is that I still think I look funny without glasses, but thats only because I have worn them for.... Well forever.

What I want to know, is How many of you have personally had the procedure done? Any beefs?

Or why not just get contacts? Ive been wearing glasses since the age of 6, and contacts since 15.

How old are you? I wouldnt reccomend getting Lasik unless your in your mid 20s. Your eyes change too much at a younger age. My friend (21) got it done, and 6 months later he was back to glasses. Happened to a few ppl I know that are in the late teen early adult years.

Im 25 and I'm thinking about it, but contacts have worked for me so good for this long(and i like the fact that pollen and cutting onions doesnt make my eyes water lol), It would be hard to convince me otherwise.

If I would agree to do it, I would be 18, I gotta go talk to my optometrist still.

My current prescription which I have had for almost 2 years may still be in check, but m mom said I should get this surgery done.

I never really considered contacts because they always seemed like more hassle than they are worth.

I cant speak for the thread starter but ive had glasses since i was about 8 or 9, and ive tried contacts several times and i absolutly cant stand them. The first time i asked about lasik when i was 18 and they told me i was too young and my eyes could still change, now im 23 and my eyes aren't changing anymore, but i cant afford the procedure, that is unless i sell all my parts that i have collected

Try em. I've been wearing contacts since '95. It's no more of a hassle than brushing your teeth or taking a shower.

Once you get used to contacts, as Joe said, its just a normal part of everyday living like brushing your teeth.

That and the fact that most contact exams are $100 and replacement contacts cost $25 for a box that lasts you 6 months. I surfed from the age of 15 to 20 5 days a week, and never once lost one.

I say go for it! :)

If i could afford it right now, i would... Alot of my family members have had it done successfully...

I have been wearing glasses for 15 years now, and the last 6 i have been wearing bifocals... No option of contacts for me :(

I love all your sounds.
Contacts FTW. I have worn them everyday for 10+ years. You will celebrate on the way home, and get cool shades!
When it rains, you will frolic outside.:)
Your eye doctor will have lots of kinds to try. Give it one week. It will change your world.
And, you will see much better, no more looking through a dirty window at everything.
My sister was thinking lasic, now, she lives for her contacts.

I don't know if I would want them lazering my eyes where the ground shakes sometimes.:nono:

Wear contacts.
I've been glasses free since I was 14.

i personally like the glasses look. i have a pair that i have to use for long long reading, like if im sitting at the back of my lecture hall, but i can see fine without them. i like the glasses look personally, it makes some people like me and such look more civilized. Wear contacts, and if you don't like the no glasses chuck em.

Contacts FTW seriously. Theres advantages over them to nothing at all....

As i said before, no more crying eyes when you cut onions
Pollen doesnt bother your eyes
Paint cars? If your contacts get overspray, just replace em
Your eyes have a thin plastic protective layer over them from flying objects lol (saved my ass from flying cigarette ash a few times)

My vision is so bad, I cant read a book more then 12in away without them in. With contacts, I see 20/15. I had astigmatism, but I wore regular contacts anyways, and within 2 years (i was still growing too), from the constant pressure of round contacts on my eyes, my eyes grew normal.. no more astigmatism.

I will get lasik one day, they do finance, but since your 18, i wouldnt reccomend it at all from friends experences.. youll just be throwing 5g's down the drain. Wait til your a fully grown mature adult, mid 20s. Start out with contacts, you can get setup with em for under $200 bux.

They will take a while to get used to, and used to touching your eyes, but once your past that, its clear sailing. A trick a doctor told me YEARS ago is to get contacts that are a size too "big" for your eyes, that way they are not stuck flat on your eyes and your eyes can breathe. Since ive done that trick, i wear mine constantly, even over night. No foggy vision, no red or dry eyes.

Since your a n00b, your eye doc will probably set you up with Acuvue 2's.. they are a thicker lens thats easier to handle. Once used to those, you can move on to a way thinner lens (regular acuvue or others) that youll never know is even there.

Ive had many people tell me to get contacts or Lasik...

but Ive had glasses since I was 12, and I can't seemyself w/o them now. I think my face looks weird w/o em (as if it didnt look weird enough anyway)

I am also 'legally blind' which would make contacts much more expensive, and may pose a problem in Lasik as my vision is so badly deteriorated.

Good luck w/ whatever you decide Kyle.
