Is there an ACC wire that doesn't shut off during start?

So, B+ in the engine bay at the diag plug doesn't have 12v. This is odd.

I'm wondering how I could have a short that would jump from power lead to power lead.

Or if I'm smoking crack on what wire I've tapped at the ECU. I'll take a photo tomorrow, post it here and see if anyone thinks I'm smoking a little too much of the crack. At the moment, I've got a New Year's bash to attend! :D

Does the +B in the Diag Box have 12v with the ignition turned?

I suspect that at this point you had previously tapped +Batt.

Well, the only wiring diagram I have is for the 1990 model, and mine is a 1989. I've definitely tapped the wire on the far corner, though, and according to my diagram Batt is one in from the corner... The two end wires are marked as IG SW and +B1.

I didn't check B with the ignition on, and it's below freezing out there now, it'll have to wait for morning.

Well, some more results.

+B at the diag block has 12v with the ignition on.

And here's a pic of the wire I *think* is +B1 at the ECU. It's the one that has a pink wire spliced into it and the red alligator clamp on it.

Another thing I've noticed. The '90 wiring diagram has 24 connections on this plug, and mine has 22.

I didn't think there were more than 2 different plug configurations for the ECUs over the years. Either the wiring diagram in the 90 TSRM is incorrect or there are a few more ECU configurations than I thought.

Yeah, it should be pins 13 and 14 on that year. In fact I believe it's the black/reds shown just above his connection in the photo. There seems to be some changes in my prints versus the newer one but they both show BATT to be b/y and +B, +B1 to be b/r.

edit: Fwiw my TCCS test set/simulator manual shows only two harness adapters for all model years. Each has different connectors for the ECU (no surprise there) but the later one can be configured in multiple ways. None of those configurations involve BATT or +B though.

Done, and working perfectly now. My warmest thanks to everyone who contributed. Next time you're going to be on the west coast of Canada, let me know and I'll buy you dinner - or if it's midsummer, perhaps just sit you in the back yard and fill you full of BBQ and Canadian beer. :)

Cheers all!
