I looked all throughthe TSRM last night and coulnd't find anything really for troubleshooting this. The two interior lights (i have targa top) will work if you press teh buttons but not if you insert the key into the door/open the door etc. What controls this function? FYI sensors on the doors do infact work, everything else that is supposed to come on does, just not the lights. Before they went i noticed the two lights were very dim but when i pressed the buttons manually they brighten no problem if that helps. Thanks

when u have the door open, look for the button with with a rubber peice covering in. the button is pushed in when the door is closed to turn off the light. u might have to jiggle it. and see if the light come on . thats where my problem is. i havent pulled it out but im sure u can fix it easily. the trerminals arent connecting when the button is released. let me know.

i forgot about the corroded rivet, that also had happeded to me before.

It's a post telling him what the problem is, Rivets

The fix has been covered many times. Some just punch the rivets, some rewire. Thus I gave him the search terms to learn from.

from SOGI tech center

Symptoms -
-Interior lights (overhead and key) will not come on with the door handle lifted or the doors open.
-The "door ajar" light and the red light on the door will come on.
-"Dome" fuse and the overhead light rocker switch check ok
-Overhead lights come on when their buttons are depressed

The fix-
A bad "integration relay" - it is located behind the drivers side kick panel fuse block. Remove the drivers side kick panel and the one screw at the bottom of the light blue fuse block. The relay is a gray block attached to the back. A replacement from Toyota will fix the problem($$$) or if you're feeling limber about $1.50 in parts from radio shack fixed mine. The defective part was a .82 ohm resistor and was visibly fried.

Or you can try, the next time you open the door and the dome light does not come on, give the dome light assembly a couple of thumps with your hand. Don't hit the switches. If the light comes on after a few raps.... it's the rivets.
