So your security light does not illuminate after locking the driver door from the outside with the key?

dont have a security light, just blank spaces where a security light could be.

1. MKivSupra_Rob is in Canada, we never had the security system in Canada, only in the USA.

2. There are lock cylinder slip-rings on both the driver's and passenger's lock cylinders in USA cars, both of them activate and deactivate the factory alarm.

I'd suggest grabbing an ohmmeter and start tracing wires, checking for correct continuity in all the systems related to the interior lighting. That's probably your best bet for finding what is up.

In the dome light assembly there's a couple of ground wires riveted...

Either punch them tighter or drill them our and wire around them and that will fix it. All the other conditions of when them come on or go off is random, coincidental. BTW if it's cold the symptoms will be worse.
