hey everyone, i have an 89 turbo and i just recently did a stock rebuild on my motor. i didnt want any leaks when i put it together so i forma-gaskgeted all my gaskets. when i did the intake manifold (the one that actually mounts to the head) i put a bead of forma-gasket around the manifold. when i tightened it down it left a bead all around each intake hole about 1.5mm tall, around the intake passage. would this be causing a restriction or a power loss? second i dont know if my stock lsd is working properly. if i do a burn out both wheels spin no problem. but when i try and do a donut or slide the back end around a turn only one wheel spins. as in if im stopped, turn the wheel all the way one direction and pop the clutch only one wheel spins instead of both spinning, both spin if im doing a burnout though. is this normal or could a fluid change help it. i havent changed the fluid and ive only put about 2500 miles on the car since ive had it. thanks

I make no claims to know what I'm talking about, so please correct me if I'm wrong...

The LSD works correctly during a burn out because the torque ratio isn't all that extreme... both tires are on pavement with about the same loading, so the clutch pack doesn't have to work that hard to take up the extra little bit of torque difference between the wheels (that would otherwise give you a one-legged burn out).

However, the crazy wheel loading during doughnuts, where the outer tire is heavily loaded and inner tire is slack, the tired out clutch pack can't build enough torque to put enough torque to the outer wheel and equalize it to the outer wheel. I imagine it's still working hard, it's just that it can't put enough pressure onto the worn out clutch plates.

There's things you can do, shimming the clutches is the cheapest and easiest step. That will take up some of the slack in the system and allow the clutch pack to close tighter.

That would cause quite a bit of turbulance. I coated the lower intake manifold gasket (that fits to the head) with liquid gasket and had quite a bit squeeze into the air passage. I was sure to put a rag down into each port (before the gasket had a chance to set) and wiped it smooth to prevent any restrictions. If I were you, I would pull the intake manifold, take a scraper to the forma-gasket and redo it correctly.
