Hey Guys, Just got my New Super Pro Poly Bushing set.It is very nice and high quality. I have removed the rubber part of the bushing and the sleeves from the lower front control arm, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to get the outside steel insert out with out a press?:aigo:

Yes, you'll need a high temp torch. First put the entire hub assembly in the freezer for awhile, then heat the metal jacket around the bushing with the torch. You'll need to get the metal almost red hot. At that point, you'll be able to poke the old bushing out and slide the new bushing (which has been in the freezer as well) in with relative ease.

That is going to make your control arms so damn brittle...That kind of excessive heat cycles will alter the grain structure of the metal.

I am sure a shop can do it with a press with relative ease and probably for free...I would do that.

I have installed many a set of poly bushings, some I made myself before they were ever commercially available. I always use a torch with minimal heat, just enough to soften the rubber bushing. My experience is when they get warm enough they actually POP out, so be careful. The first time I did that and they Popped they shot across a parking lot with my friends standing there mesmerized that they had survived LOL. In no way shape or form do you want the sleeves red hot as the earlier poster mentioned. If you want better info on how to remove them just like I described contact Performance Suspension Technologies.

Thanks guys for the input, I got them out. I used a different method. I first removed the rubber insert and pin, then I used a hacksaw to just almost cut through the sleeve, then using PB Blaster and a hammer and large socket pounded it out. By making the small cut in the sleeve that didn't go all the way through, it relieved the pressure and allowed them to come out with no problem.

Yes they do , as mine is a MA70, For some reason it does not always show up, it is right above the JZA80, Just high light the area and you can see it. He has the front lower and front upper. If you want a set just email rick, his email address is on the page and tell him what you are looking for and he will let you know if he has it.

Yes I know this is an old thread, but I'd just like to say that I removed mine by slicing the steel (yes STEEL) insert in 2 pieces with a hack saw then pushing them out with a punch + hammer. I did both upper and lowers )super pro) and must say that the car behaves much much better now. I would also like to add that the grease that is included is very very slippery and I am not worried about Re- Greasing anymore. Also I found it easy to press the uppers in by stepping on the control arm while the bushing was underneath, went on 2nd~3rd time for all 4 uppers.

i used a sawzall to cut the bushings out. cut mostly through the steel sleeve (MAKING SURE NOT TO CUT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM!!!), then use vice grips to twist it out. worked great. :)
