So my daily finally kicked the bucket and rod knock kicked in and now i'm looking for a replacement. I'm looking at a 5-spd black/black '95 SC300 as my main choice, but as a back up just in case it sells from under me, I'm looking at 2 different G35s. First one is an '04 6-spd black/black with navi and Brembos @ 58K miles for $16,900 and the second is an '06 6-spd black/black with navi @ 30K miles for $16K.

Anywho, anyone have any experience or thought about them? The one complaint I've heard about the pre-revised models is that there's a slight oiling issue where it burns about a quart of mile every 3K miles or so.

But are there any other problems I should be aware of? Btw, which of the two G35s listed would be a better deal?

Thanks in advance

I've always liked the G35's, not much experiance, only worked on a few.

The second one is 2 years newer, half the miles, and almost a grand cheaper?... sound's like the better deal. If the only difference is it doesn't have the Brembo's I'd definetly get that one, the Brembo's are nice but not needed, stock brakes are good too, and cheaper when it comes time to replace them.

They're nice cars. I have an '02 Maxima with the same motor. You need to becareful though. Apparently the VQ35's tend to burn oil. My Maxima goes through around 2 qts. every 5k miles. Never beat on and always well maintained.

Only problem I have with a G35 is it isn't in my driveway. Best stock exhaust note ever IMO. Get the newer one.

With that oiling problem comes premature engine failure.

Exactly. I literally treat my Maxima like a 7M. Before I start the motor, I always check the oil.

Other than that, it still runs phenominal with 120k.
