Well after a slew of problems..... i am stuck with this.
stock BPV took a big ol shiz last week was quiclky replaced with a bosch unit ( sounds sooo much better and no surge)
The exciter wire from the alternator fell off the other night (thank god for broken connectors. this left me sitting on the side of the road
blew the intake mani gasket Both of them! :icon_evil
blew the vaccum line off of the metal fitting under the manifold right before the gaskets went...... coincidence... i think not! :biglaugh: Also did not over boost or nothing just running at 10-11lbs depending on weather.
got all that straigtened out
scanned my ABS light........... all but 3 possible codes were present (no abs for sure now!
also boost seems to slowly creeps down.... i think it's just a weak gate. it's shimmed, not using a MBC yet.
now intermittently i have a stalling problem. after a meduim run i come to a stop sign and she just slowly idles to a stall. now it has done this about 4 times in the last month or so. it's more anoyying then anything, but it's a problem that needs fixed. any one have any ideas..... alos no engine codes.

work in progress
could be a slow leak in your IC pipes some where resulting in the boost fading

sorry to hear of your problems too! its not easy keeping up an old sports car! But once you get her working right, nothin like it!

Just keep optimistic and you'll work them all out!

What do your vacuum hoses look like? Are they newly replaced or older? Start squeezing your IC hoses (the rubber ones) and check for cracks, don't forget the one going to the turbo.

the one at the turbo has been replaced with a hard pipe (when i shimmed the gate to 10psi, it decided to violently blow off at the turbo! :icon_evil )
also the vacuum lines have been replaced totally. I'm going to redo them again with silicone and zip ties for clamps .

cartel1_950 :

I have been on the old car boat since i got my first car :1zhelp: so yea i know the feeling. but i try to keep optimistic over it all because i think of it as keeping a legend alive. Also i enjoy the re engineering of things. Stuff that could have been better from factory. ie IC pipes... WTF why rubber and the god forsaken plastic tube! I've been a welder fabricator for about 3yrs of my life and a mechanic the rest of it. so it feels good to have the knowledge to be able to make something that a car company omitted.

yeah i definetly like the ability to upgrade and see the gains but i'm a little SOL in the fabrication department so i'm stuck to tryin to find the best and cheapest deals. good to know i'm not the only one who is feeling the frustration

Sounds like you have two problems, one Ideal mentioned, the other is probably missing/damaged vac or intake lines.

I come from a land down under
Just sounds like a typical hacked up A70.......

These were expensive cars when released and with service and parts being very expensive most have been neglected or hacked so first thing should be to go right through the car methodically and unhack it.

I have to agree with your logic. one thing mabey unrelated, mabey related. the vacuum valves underneath the intake mani. i am assuming these to be a chek valve of some sorts? or what are they. they both have a 2 wire plug to them.

Recirc........... did not know you could vent a bosch 103 valve??? :icon_conf
they are a BPV and not a BOV correct???

is it hooked up like stock meaning is one end plugged into the 3000pipe and the other end plugged into the accordian hose ?

Stock clamps on your Intercooler piping are not super efficient at or above 10lbs. I'm assuming as you said you were on a budget that you haven't bought any better clamps. Go get some T-Bolts

Ummm i would not say all that i am running 14psi on the stock clamps and IC pipes and not one issue . However t-bolt are great and they have 100 x's the clamping force and when i upgrade to hardpipes i will invest in them for sure.

you can ven any type of BOV or BPV that I know of (so far) as long as the inlet to the BPV is plumbed and not the outlet, the BPV has correct vacuum readings, and the accordian hose is blocked off, but really, why would you want to do it?
