If you like your car, that is all that really matters.

I know that some of the A70 Supra people on here have met other A70 Supra owners that aren't too friendly. I just would like to say don't let them create tension between the love you have for your cars and some of the other A70 Supra owners on here that might actually want to meet other members.

Whether it is on the forums or in person, there always tend to be those few people with Supras that are not very friendly. But to that are people that are very helpful and respecting.

To give you an example, I have owned my car for four and a half years and not one time did I get a friendly gesture from other Supra owners I saw. We kind of just looked at each other with a blank face. Sometimes it looks like they were trying to say theirs was better than my MKIII.

I borrowed a custom painted Accord slightly customized for three days and I got a friendly gesture from another Honda Accord owner that had the same model only the car was red, lowered, with a dual exhaust that had an exotic car sound! The guy revved at me to get my attention, then he gave me a friendly nod, like an approval of how nice the car I was in.

So far, the friendliest car people I know are Honda owners. I know some people on here have bad experience with Honda owners, but then again some of the people on here had only good experiences with MKIII owners. The friends I have, most of them are Honda people.

I'm from California so maybe it is location. I try to keep an open mind. I actually knew a few guys that I talked to when they had only Lexus and after they got a MKIII as their project sports car, things changed. They were doing a 1JZ swap on the car and since they have two motors, they offered to sell me one. Since it was not smog-legal, I declined the offer. I asked them if it was okay if I come by sometime and help out with the project and basically they said "Sorry, private project." Last I heard those guys are looking to sell the car for like $7,000.

I saw another MKIII at a gas station with an aftermarket exhaust. Instead of going up to the two guys and talking about what common cars we have, I just pumped gas into my car and just paid attention to the pump gauge. Then I left. I didn't give them a look of "my car is better." After so many not so great experience with MKIII Supra owners, I kind of keep my guard up. I do keep an open mind that there are good MKIII Supra owners in my area, I just haven't met any of them. Sure, I could have went up and talk, but I didn't want to be humiliate. They had at least a turbo and I'm driving NA.

There is also the Super Autobac Supra meets that is not so far.
I have not attended any of the meets since I might get those few owners who gives off an attitude just because they have an upgraded turbo car or a 1JZGTE swap or they had nicer wheels or whatever it may be.

Does it bother me that I haven't met too many nice MKIII owners? No because all that matters is that I like my car. I knew what I was getting into when I fell in love with the MKIII Supra, the unpopular and forgotten Sports car, when it seemed like everyone at my high school was getting Hondas and during the time when the WRX was beginning to take over in imports.
And there are a lot of respectful people on Supramania, so that's good.

I agree, I too live in California and almost never talk to other Supra owners.

All of the compliments I get on my car are from non-Supra owners.

I hate to say it but I think most people living is Socal are (unfortunately) superficial jerks.

The average person in L.A. would rather spend their time watching Paris Hilton on Entertainment Tonight than actually do anything, or actually interacting with anyone.

I'm getting pretty sick of Cali.

I live in the LA area, and I have seens several other MK3's, and the owners seemed to be really nice, even raced a couple of them.

But then there were like one or two others that wouldn't acknowledge me at all...go figure.

edit: I agree with suprabad, seems like most people around here are really superficial, and if you don't drive a new Benz or Bimmer, and wear the HEUG white-framed sunglasses like Paris Hilton, they don't give you the time of day...LOL. Trendy people can be very annoying...makes me want to leave Socal.

Must be an midwest or east/southern region thing, because I have met some incredibly friendly people, too - both online and in person. I'm probably the biggest dick in the region. Errr, make that I have the biggest dick in the region! :icon_razz

That was YOU at the gas station ignoring me? Dick! ;)

You should drive up to Canada for a meet, we'll show you what it's supposed to be like.

Best group of drivers I've seen for sticking together, waving at each other, etc, is the Austin Mini folks. They are all in the same religion or something. :)

yea....I was a honda owner, I got hassled by everybody. Dodge poeple around here are bunch of rednecks with nothing better to do then fill the air with black smoke. MK3 people I meet at the ohio meet are pretty cool.
