Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
Sans AFM during start the ECU uses STA and IDL closed to set ignition timing and injection. After start it uses IDL open for another set of valves for them. All you get are those two so don't expect normal behavior but generally speaking an engine in good condition should start and run surprising well as long as one doesn't ask for hard acceleration. This is the case with every car I've worked with. The point is the ECU is programmed to not leave you in a lurch. That said in fairness to you I've edited the article to reflect a possible no start/run since I suppose it could occur depending on engine temp, condition, ect.

Lol @ "pics of said stocking"...

BY the WAy...i took of the afm sensor and it idles better than pluged..when afm sensor is plugged the car dies faster...when it is unplug car revs up and down when you step on the gas at 2-3rp or more..

your AFM is probably shot, if you check the error codes id suspect they would confirm this is the problem area.

If you take off your AFM, you might as well find a different car to drive while you're waiting on another one. BTW, how do you know your AFM is what's giving you problems? And please, don't put a stocking anywhere near that engine ;).
I walked him through how to test it with an ohm meter. (Not sure if he really did after reading this post and the previous post of his I read.)

Dude you said you got a kid on the way, get rid of the Supra you don't have the time that it will demand, get a good grocery getter and get on with your life, if you have a real passion for 'mechanical work' do what others suggested, research, learn the basics of a combustion engine and what it takes to make it run. Electrical systems and sensors vary between makes and model and there are several different fuel injection systems.

Yeah, when my AFM went completely out and unplugged my car would idle but surged kinda like a miss and also would do this in the low rpm's(miss) but would straighten out in the higher rpm's it did stall once but after idling for near 6 minutes.
