Does anyone know thre procedure for removing the headrest from our seats. My fronts have been redone in leather by the previous owner but for some reason he didn't do the headrests and they are kind of crappy looking and was thinking of having them redone to match.

yes this is a hugely old thread, but I'm in a similar situation and noticed that no-one replied before.
I dropped my car off today to a retrim place but we couldnt figure out how to get the headrests off... any help would be great!

Do you really want to take them off, or just take off the leather cover? It's just zippered on there, you need to pull out the end of the zipper, but it's not that tough.

Now if you really want to remove them, that's a whole crapload of work. You need to unbolt the back, snip several of the hog rings on the top, peel back the upholstery, then take off the nuts that hold the headrest assembly and pull it out. Unless you have easy access to hog rings and hog ring pliers, you can't put it back together, either.

well seeing as it's at a retrim place I'm sure they can do it :) They are taking off my cloth trim and putting on leatherette/vynil ones.
But now that you mention it my headrest covers did just have a zip on the bottom... hmm maybe they can just be put over the top.
