I don't have an EGR, and I don't care what anyone says about it. Hope to pass easy Washington emissions soon :)

My EGR has been blocked off at the back of the head...not by me though:naughty:
That's no problemo, right?

It can be if you're running a USDM ECU ;)

That's disappointing to hear Tanya.

Passing NOx is difficult without an EGR.

my car has 6 egr's and no intake.

works much better this way, because it only uses exhaust gases to power it and creates no harmful emmisions.

it is essentially a propetial motion supra

yeah, I just routed my exuast back into my intake. So its kinda like forced induction.

ROTFLMAO :bigthumb:

That is the funniest, most appropriate thing I've read in a long time JJ!

I really like the rust, the leaves, and how this guy's engine bay looks in general. Very well maintained

Not saying it's a good thing to bypass or otherwise remove EGR, but could one simply swap the USDM ECU out for a JDM one to take care of the tuning problem?

Again, NOT saying this is a good idea, just thinking out loud

That is a question I was going to ask as well.

What are the other differences in the JDM ECU, as I imagine there are some?

Well, I know it's not the same but...

I am running the stock US 5M ECU in my car now, but I am planning on buying back my JDM 6M ECU shortly.... will let you all know if there's any noticeable difference. I may also test them with a wideband to see if there's any change.

edit, LOL Kyle, good timing.

if you saw it ran cooler at all speeds with the stock temperature gauge, use an IR point-shoot thermometer to really test it. while you're at it, dyno with and without to strengthen your argument of power gains.

haha.

Well I did not have an EGR on one of my previous cars either, and I did not notice any lack or gain of mileage, performance, cooling, etc. Seemed the same to me, even with the stock US ECU.

I am wanting to get my 6M ECU back bc of the alleged better fuel map, I am curious as to how "different" it really is. Testing with a wideband, testing mileage, perhaps even running emissions testing w/ the different ECUs to see what's up. I would consider dyno tests, but "supposedly" the ECU has to have a certain amount of time to "reboot" or get broke in again, you can't just switch them back and forth and expect it to run top notch.... well... at least that's what I've read, don't know for certain.

Also need to bypass the 115mph speed limiter crap though :x
