Ok so i have a 87 turbo targa. I noticed that whenever i lock the door from the inside then shut it, the lock unlocks when it latches. Both doors do this!!!!! Anybody ever have this happen and how is it fixed???

On the pre 89 supras you have to hold the door handle up when you close the door after you lock it from the inside.

Correction, it was pre-88 Supras. My 88 you didn't have to do this. It was pretty common among Japanese cars until the mid-late 80's from what I understand. Have had two friends with 87 FC Rx7's that are the same way.

My 89's door was replaced with an 87 door by the previous owner, so I had to do this. I say 'had" because once you get remote door locks, everything is gravy..

my 88 did the same thing, though might have been just the canadian models.

I remember doing whilst confused, and a friend walked up and locked it with the handle up.. good times.

like Razoe said, remote door-locks ftw.

I like it. When you lock the doors and decide that you didn't want to lock them all you have to do is shut the door normally and they unlock. I do this all the time when I have the baby in the passenger side back seat. I always hit the door lock out of habit while I'm getting out, then remember I have to walk around and get my kid out through the other door.

lol... yea my friend didn't know how to lock his doors. He has a 84 300zx. I believe this is also the reason why the door handles are always broken on the driverside. too much stress when closing the door and holding the handle for so many years.

Closing with the handle up doesn't leave fingerprints on the door either if you're doing it right.

This explains alot, I replaced my drivers door panel with one out of an 87 and it drove me INSANE. I thought the actuator was just fucked and was activating with the shock of closing the door.

The only thing about locking the doors from the outside with the key is that it doesn't arm the alarm, but locking them from the inside does.
