What the fuck is wrong with this country now? back in the late 60's early 70's..gas was 65 cents a gallon. in the late 90's it was 1.05 a gallon....thats a 40 cent difference in 20+ years.

fast forward to today in the month of march to early early april...it goes (in Texas) from 1.99 a gallon to 2.39 a gallon. 40 cent increase in less than one Goddamn motherfuckin month?!

I know you californians got it bad, blah blah blah..im not im comparison of texas to cali or cali to washington...im more in comparison to back then and now.

how do we have a steadily increase in gas price..then all of a sudden in the past couple of years..SHOOTS up like a motherfucker. its pretty Goddamn rediculous.

Some will say dwindling resources, oil cartel in the white house, environmental protection etc...

I say bullshit, it is pure opportunistic price gouging in the finest American tradition. Increasing the cost to what the market will bear.

I just bought a truck that averages 10 MPG! Ha! I think I'll go out and rip the catalytic converters off of it...

Well back then, people made $3 bucks an hour and that was good ( compared to minimum wage now). Nowdays, we are payed x amount of dollars more, so the rest of the parishable goods, cloathing, food, gas....it goes up incremintally as well.

Its all in the way the economy goes....

Why dont you start a bitching thread about the milk prices, ice cream prices, hourly bill prices at the shop.......now those are PRICEY now!!

you get my drift. ;) I dont want to sound rude or just impose on your view of things...honest!
Maybe you just need to get a better education or a better paying job ( or both?).

think about it. :)

umm siman im goin to have to ask u something.
how many times do u buy milk, ice cream, dish washing liquid... ect.
and how many times do u buy gas a week and how much of it. theres a big difference when it comes to these things. the reason milk products have gone up is because older type farms are decreasing and the large companies have pretty much a monopoly on us. so next time u buy a gallon of gas consider it a gallon of gas and not a gallon of milk.

Yup, $3.50 / gallon here, after you convert from litres to gallons and CDN to USD.

You think that's bad... check out France. Gasoline there is ridiculous... years back it was over $20 / gallon, I hate to think what it is now.

dont EVEN compare milk to gas. did you see milk prices rise to 5 bucks a gallon in the past 2 years?

you arent really understanding the connecting pattern here are you? minimum wage is 5.15 an hour..

back in the 90's it was the same FUCKIN WAGE at 5.15 per hour. Gas was still within the 40cent increase range from the late 60's early 70's where minimum wage was 2.15.

SO minimum wage in the 60's-70's area was around 2.15 gas was 65 cents a gal.
in the 90's..minimum wage was 5.15, 3 dollar increase...gas 40 cents past that mark at 1.05.

minimum wage is STILL 5.15..and yet gas price is 2.35? you say it "it goes up incremintally as well."....no, this is NOT growing up incremintally..like its a happy fuckin pattern on the wall.

gas ALSO isnt something you buy once every 2weeks to a month..its something you buy every week, every week and a half, every coulple of days. all the goods and stuff you mention are growing in price steadily..but not going from steady growth in price to MOUNT FUCKIN EVEREST in a span of 2 years.

of course your implied asshole comments you so attempted to cover up with smilies show a little immaturity..but hey, i can live with that. there is always one.

I have an education...but what better to increase education with a question right? think about it.

as for the job situation..i have a great job..could make more than you, could not..but im definatley not struggling.

Remember, even rich people wonder why one payment mysteriously increases over the other....they arent ignorant blindly signing checks. think about it ;)

edit: there is NO such thing as good minimum wage...thought education would have told you that by now.

I have to really agree there. Im reminded when 9/11 hit and companies starting shooting the prices up to 5 bucks a gallon for a day or half a day depending on location.

now they are doing it in a more suttle way and throwing fingers everywhere as to why its prices are increasing to avoid having to go back down.

btw simman that does sound rude and uncalled for.

my dad has 4 year grad students working for him on his contruction site making 8-10 an hour... I only make 8.50 an hour (9 in a month) for detailing cars it does me fine for only being 17 and all but still the job doesnt always show the work ethic.

dood, you serioulsy need to lay off the curse words...now THOSE show immaturity.
Smilies help show exactly what emotion i want to voice out by my words.

And my point of minimum wage back then being "good" was ment to be take as "that was the standard minimum pay back then"....thought you could of figured it out.....but oh well, you just curse till your content.

seems that you took my post a wee bit to seriously eh?

Not to really be pointing fingers..but i drink beer, dads a sailor, and i live in texas. the Curse words is an infiltrated dialouge thats not even given a second thought :D

i could have figured out your inside phrase for a word...or you could have phrased it better than minimum wage being "good"

either way...the skyrocketing price blows..wish there would be a stop to it. But hell, if Dusty can increases prices by 5%, im sure gas companies can do it to by 50fold.

Yeah, despite what oil companies would like you to believe they are gouging the hell out of the prices this year. It's about $2.50 a gallon for premium here and expected to hit $3.00 a gallon soon. Just ridiculous... Something.... needs to be done... :(

oh well.... at least my other car gets about 35+ MPG :)

I don't understand this idea of america being angry at the gas companies. (america as a whole, not anybody here in particular or singled out)

If America hated buying 3.00 a gallon gas. Why were SUV's that get 10-15mpg the top selling vehicles last year? Why didn't the hybrid's or turbo diesel's take over?

Its a very simple problem with a very simple solution.
The Problem: America must have gas. We are not a small country like France with an intense public transit system, (the trains) We drive our own cars to work.. right next to your neighbor who works in the same place...each in your own car.

Solution: Stop buying gas. Get a better fuel efficient car, car pool, take the bus, walk.
Until American's decide the Ford Expidition isn't necessary for toting around 3 people, and 3 people only.. then the gas companies are gonna bend us over....
Decide that 3 people can fit in a mid-sized sedan and get 30mpg... the gas companies will hafta listen...

I fill up twice a week. I hate payin this much, but I haven't taken any steps to reduce my consumption of gas, so I don't bitch about having to buy it.
