Sure the previous owner didn't adjust the belt for brake in? Some cars require that.

No, it's not that, the causes that I've seen other people attribute to this on the forum I frequent on that car are: The crank keyway has some slop in it, or the dampner is old (most people are reusing this part, which IMO doesn't need to be done on an engine with +150K miles on it.

Well I guess I got lucky-I measured with a piece of cardboard lol I couldn't find a long enough piece of pipe- the 1st piston was up significantly higher than the other ones! So I guess I did things right for a change :naughty:
A wooden or plastic chopstick works well and you get to eat the food first ;)

I use a piece of Vaccum hose just in case so it can't mark the piston.

A twig is my friend.

I would be afraid to stick any metal screwdriver down the spark plug hole. Gouge the hell out of the piston top.

Piston Pussys :wuteva:

Aren't you afraid that some residual food acid might pit your fancy coatings.

put it this way.. mini explosions are happening a kazillion times per milliquadrooplesecond in the chamber, so a fork or a peice of plastic isnt going to hurt it if your carefull.
