Exhaust Cam Oiling Issue

Fresh rebuilt motor, 10 mi down the road it dies.

Timing Belt had some teeth ripped off it.

Basically Exhaust cam locked up and crank ripped some teeth off the belt
Brand new 272 BC Exhuast and Intake Cams// Spring and retainers as well

The Exhaust cam is now in two peices. As you can see the exhaust side wasnt getting oil all the way down the cam.

So what are the potential cuases of this?

Did you mic or even plastigauge the Cam and journals when you installed it?

It was installed by a local machine shop. Still going through it to see if it was installed properly or not.

I'm guessing 0 clearence, the Cams share an oil feed so if it were a supply issue I'd expect the intake to be dead as well.

Pastigauge measures the oil clearance right?

TSRM states to replace cylinder head or camshaft if there is no clearance. Since the camshaft was new if this turns out to be the issue will i need a new head?

I'm guessing the Cam has torn the head up pretty badly, only way to tell is pop some caps off, these heads don't have "bearings" as such so any damage pretty well junks the head...

Not the first BC cam to have bearing failure, probably won't be the last.
Might check to see if it even had the oil passage drilled the full length.
That would explain to oil getting to any of the other bearings, except the first one.
No matter, the head is scrap now.

wow I'm a bit stunned that it might be this...... Dimensions I can sort of understand but something so basic....

Well hopefully the springs and retainers are at least salvageable. I should know more by end of the night, I did wonder myself if it was actually drilled the full length.

Anyone have a good head for sell?

Story of my supra, if it can go wrong it will.

That blows. Were you able to turn the cam prior to running the engine? Id be talking to the machine shop before ripping anything apart. At least that way if it is their fault, you wont be blamed.

Yea, it was definantly turning heh... The pucks show evidence of that

Their is no way machine shope could blame me for this one, Either it was assembled wrong or there is a defect in the cam. I am leaning toward machine shop but who knows.
