so i was reading up on the 12v fuel pump mod, and was wondering, do i have to run a completely dedicated line from the battery? i have a fused 4g line running back to a distribution block in the hatch to power my amp.

might have been reading the realy mod at the same time, relay mod allows you to use your own larger gauge line to the fuel pump as i understand it and it also can be useful for dual pump setups as well

i'll give it a try, it would still be better than the old factory wiring. it can't hurt though, can it?

:dunno: as long as you do it right, use a fuse etc.

If there is a problem with the factory wiring, as 18 years ago was a long time, then it needs to be fixed anyway. Tedious, but necessary.

another question about this, in the write-up, the tank is drained and pulled from the car. would it be a bad idea if i didn't drain the tank and just dropped it down a little to reach the necessary wiring?

Tough to do. A tank weighs enough by itself - add a full tank of fuel, and that's another ~150lbs. Worse, it's weight that moves.
