I heard that it's the stock clutch fan not cooling enough, causing it to overheat and BHG, thus the need for E-fans...
:biglaugh:
:biglaugh: i hear that too, on the local level and are stunned at my defiance

I've also heard that it's caused by buildup of sediment in the 18-20 year old radiator... causing a lack of cooling capability... which in turn causes an overheat condition.

I also heard replacing the radiator is a possibly solution.

think about it

if your EGT is too high, its running back through the head. The head gets hot, and "warps" at that point where the excessive heat is, and pops #6, its not far fetched.

^^^ :slap:

I have thought about it...there's a coolant jacket under the EGR cooler on the head side. You know, the one with the big banjo fitting for the cabin heat line. The EGR cooler has nothing to do with causing a BHG at the #6 cylinder...another "7M Myth". Time for you to do some real research on what effect the EGR has on cylinder temps ;)

Oh I know the inert gas lowers cylinder temps, but I was just wondering if that cooler* ever became a heat sink and over heated that is all :\

If you ever take a look down the threaded hole where the banjo fitting attaches to the back of the head, you will get an idea of how big the coolant jacket is behind the EGR cooler...it's big and runs the length of the cooler. If you are getting a hot spot here, you've got a lot bigger problems ;)

Also, think about what effect lower cylinder temps have on EGT and what effect lower temps will have when it comes to cylinder detonation under load at less than WOT. Especially since the stock USDM ECU is tuned for the EGR fuel/timing map wise.

In my old car I always had overheating problems. After BHG I had my radiator roded and they told me it was at least 50% plugged. After that no problems... untill I got rearended by a full size chevy. New car has never even blinked hot.
IMO most peoples prob. is their radiator or a leaking HG.
