I have to title to the car. The interior is in good shape, and the paint isnt bad. I can do the work, so the car is probably worth what I paid, but i could have gotten a much better deal i think. My battery is charging and I am going to get some pics in a couple minutes.

Your best bet would be to replace the entire subframe up there. You'll never get that thing to ride straight with that kind of damage.

That's severe damage, I hope you got the car really cheap.

Replacing the subframe isn't really that hard, just a royal pain in the ass. It will give you an excuse to fix the power steering leak. (Every MKIII in the world has a power steering leak until the owner fixes it at least once.)

Nice looking car otherwise btw...

Ugh...Its Lucy's evil twin!

"Take THAT! you wing-ed spawn of SATAN!"

Looks to me like its fixable....no fun...but still fixable. Might need to find yourself a donor car.

holy crap, that is bad, you got taken for a ride. I was thinking you paid like $1000-1500 MAX! $2800 is TOO MUCH. You should try and do what you can through ebay and paypal and for sure send him a letter saying you are going to take him to small claims court over this if he doesn't make good on the MASSIVE failure to disclose known problems... damn dude, that really sucks.

what do you think it would cost to fix this if i took it somewhere? I made claim, and he wants me to end it. I think he doesnt want to mess with it. I have access to a parts car for 600 maybe. Its an 86 1/2 non turbo though so i dont konw the differnce mines a 90.

He gives you back $1000 or you continue the dispute.

That's the MINIMUM you should accept. $1500 is probably closer to what you should really ask for.

Well he just told me last night that he would give me 700. He said that because he said he gave me a $90 new right front caliper extre.

BFD, give the caliper back, when the hell are you going to need a new stock replacement caliper, never (or close to never). tell him $1k or the highway and you're proceeding. This guy sounds like a dick, but at least you are getting somewhere. let us know how it progresses.

I called around and the best I found was 480 in labor to change the subframe, and about 400 for the subframe itself.

I tried to tell him that I see these sell for about 3000 in running condition, but he says that the car is rare so he thinks its worth that even in the condition its in. I'm thinking about sending him this link so he can see that EVERYBODY agrees that I got screwed over.

paypal only intervenes with shipment issues and the like :(

This is not true. E-bay and paypal both have rules about inaccurate descriptions. you can file a claim with e-bay for "item purchased not as described" and with paypal for the same thing. Paypal and e-bay may both force the refund of the money or a partial refund if the item can be repaired.

I used to deal with this all the time when selling used parts.

well thats good to know. It would save me having to pay for a lawyer if it really came down to it. The good thing is that he is in the military so I should be able to go through the office on base if it comes to that. He seems to be wanting to work this out so I don't think it will. So from what is in the pictures you think 1000 would be good? I bought a new radiator for 140, a used steering knuckle for 45 shipped, and lower ball joints for 60 shipped. or maybe the last two were the other way around. I need the upper ball joints still. And hopefully the control arms didnt get too jacked up. I'm sure they did though

I think we all said $1000 is the minimum you should get back. Given you are going to have to sink at least that into it to get a car in drivable condition, I'd say you should get more. Not disclosing that scratch is also deplorable.. what is it with people that makes them think the internet gives them license to be a lying thief?

And you don't need a lawyer to go to small claims court. Just have to do a little reserach and pay the filing fee. Check with your county government for the specifics. Because he is in the military you have another card to play, namely writing a letter to his commanding officer, explaining to him just how dishonest he is, they won't take that lightly and he really won't want you to do it.

Ok so paypal agreed that I should get my $1000 back and he had a deposit for 800 that was made, it showed pending, then today it was only 175. He only had that in his account they said. So now paypal said that I have to wait for him to make the payments. He could take as long as he wants and I can't do anything about it. I'm probably gonna end up having to use the military to get the money back since he's deploying till August I think. I'm sure he won't be paying me while he is there unless I do something like that.
