downpipe question

hey guys i bought a trust mx 3" downpipe but the one gasket that fits inside the y pipe came a little small so i used the original. do u think it would leak? i tightened as hard as i could let me know soon before i install my motor tomorw. thanks:biglaugh:

Well at least if you have an EXHAUST leak you know where to check first

shouldn't leak. I re-used my stock 1JZ downpipe gasket when I went to 3" downpipe.

THAT was a long time ago.

umm why would there be a boost leak when this is the exhuast side of the turbo?

anyone care to explain!!

If you're worried about it, just get a new friggin gasket. It's like what, $3 at the autoparts store? they won't list one for your particular application, and if you try to explain to an autozoner what the hell you're trying to do, you'll actually be able to see him lose brain cells as he tries to understand.

Go to a NAPA or something with the gasket and ask to see their selection of exhaust gaskets. You'll find one that matches up close enough.

autozone doesnt have it local part stores dont have it and toyota might waste 2 days and order the wrong friggin part. any other choices?

I put the DP on after putting the Engine in. was just easier for me to put it in. Used some RTV to hold the Gasket in place while i bolted it up. Not the easiest thing to do but doable

Also i think the 7M-GTE had the same Gasket on it's stock Exhaust don't know if they are the same size but i have some of those too
