Well, Tomorrow is the day I start taking my NA 88 Auto supra apart and begin the NA-T Build.. I am planning on having it done by next weekend (Still waiting on parts) I got the car with 131k on the odo and today I just hit 140k on the way home from the local supra meet.. I bought the car with a BHG and did a Head gasket and replaced the bolts with ARP's it lasted 1000 miles and then blew again due to it being a shitty ebay head gasket.. So I pulled it all apart again got the head machined, checked the block for warpage and got a felpro.. It has been running strong since! I have put 8,000 miles on it without one problem, ARP's were installed torqued to 90 ft lbs and then re torqued after letting the gasket settle.. What I am doing is all GTE electronics, Valve covers, SAFC Neo, Front mount, all aluminum piping, HKS ssqv bov, stock turbo, 2.5 exhaust, etc..

What I am having a hard time deciding is do I keep the felpro head gasket or while I have the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, fuel rail and wiring harness out pull the head and clean the surfaces up and slap on a HKS MHG.. I have heard of people running 10+ lbs on felpro head gaskets with no problem so thats why im having a hard time just changing it.. Kinda like if it aint broke dont fix it, ya know?

Anyways tell me your opinions on this..

Thanks

personal opinion time..... HKS w/stopper but i see what you mean lol but it also depends on the surface's condition to. if for whatever reason your surfaces got damaged or warped at all you could be screwing yourself by trying to swap gaskets.

As far as i know, you cant just clean up the surfaces and throw on a mhg.
depending on thickness you will need to machine the head/block. to keep stock compression

They have already been machined, If the block and head are not warped there is no reason you cant put on a metal head gasket... As long as they are straight

As long as both surfaces have been machined, (machined well that is) then a mhg should do fine. MHGs dont like conforming to not flat surfaces.
