hey everyone. as i rebuild my harness and double check everything I wanted to try and clean up as much wiring as possible, and allow for easier installation and removal of the intake manifold.

Have any of you fellas changed your harness routing to accommodate this mission? If so where did you run the large group of wires that usually sits on the fuel rail? any pictures or tips on how to remove some of the wiring mess under the hood?

What engine are you talking about here? The JZ engines have a pretty nicely hidden wiring harness from the factory. If you run it through the firewall on the driver side, the engine bay looks really nice.

i am talking about my 1jz. I would love to run it through the firewall on the driver side, but I imagine id need to put a hole, and plug the one on the passenger side to do that?

on another note.

this plug is on my harness but it was never connected to anything. My ABS light is on, and my hydro fan always runs full blast, but everything else in my car works. can i just eliminate these wires from the harness all together? Does it have any air conditioning function?

Interested in this as well, in the middle of a jz swap at the moment and I hate all the crap sitting in the bay, I'm trying to move as much of it as possible to clean it up, I already moved the fuse box down by the back of the headlight area and am trying to remove all the stupid little brackets and stuff I can, would like to see some pics of other successful cleanups?

Just gotta use your brain. Unplug everything move it. Extend the wires and route it a way you won't see it.

Ya. I like it that way better. I don't like the idea of the harness running over like that plus it looks better. And no cutting. Next year ill be working on bare min in the engine bay without cutting corners.

Pretty much. Either use an existing hole (I believe we stuffed mine in the speedometer cable hole), or get a hole saw and make your own. As for the existing harness hole on the passenger side, you can either weld in a new piece of metal and make it look really good, or use some Hondabond and one of those little hole covers you see on desks, like this:

i took the rubber boot off a stock harness and put it in. Doesnt completely seal it up tho you could make it seal up but its looks pretty good.

tweak routed my coil plug wires, crank sensor, water temp, thru the spark plug valley vs intake manifold

All of our NEW harnesses are routed like this. Regular conversions, where we use the JZ core harness remain in factory layout, i.e. coil branches run from front to back, versus back to front like in this picture.

Do you need to extend the harness any more if you run through the driver side? And what did to do with your heater check valve hvyman?

thanks for the info.

as it turns out I decided not to do the wiring tuck yet. i figured I will need to work on this bucket too much and would hate to always go digging for that stuff, not to mention my fender lining looks haggard. once I get my break up fixed and take the standalone plunge I will likely tackle the wiring tuck. my engine bay looks so terrible it would only expose holes i am not using, rust, and filth. for now I am going to focus on function.

I did get some parts powder coated. its amazing how quickly all that cast alum. was oxidizing. the valve covers are as close to stock color and finish as I could find. I am looking for a stock looking 2500 twin turbo sticker. everything else is wrinkle black in an attempt to be like ron r! (i don't think i am fooling anyone)
