I've never heard anything about that... I also don't see how a manual transmission would effect the ABS in any way.

So yes. It will work. No mods needed.

YES, it will bolt right on, and it will not affect the ABS.
The ABS has nothing to do with the transmission. ABS is for the brakes ;)

Uhm Lol? There is a ABS plug that is on the manual trans it says, Anti-Skid ) it's the the right side, ABS HAS to do with the trans as well.

The two plugs on my R154, one for reverse switch, and one for (what I thought) was neutral switch. But reading the TRSM yes, you are correct it a rear speed connector (w/ A.B.S.) not a neutral switch.

To answer the original question again, it is still yes, you can swap/switch the R154 from the 89 into the 87

Rob,

Just an FYI

In the MKIII Supra, the ABS rear speed sensor is tied into the R154 transmission.

So if he did have ABS. It is a plug away from working :)

Ding ding, DO NOT forget to either plug that RSS hole up or get the RSS. Or you will just be up chucking trans. fluid threw it. Ask me how I know this.
The plug is right above the fill plug, and if the transmission is a bit dirty, its easily missed.

Oh ok. Makes sense now. For some reason I was thinking we had 2 rear wheel sensors and then the one on the trans.
