Cam Gears Three little bolt things

I was puttin the head back together, when it was time to put the cam gears on i noticed that the gears had three holes around where the main bolt goes. one gear has a little bar sticking out of one of them. on the other gear there is nothing sticking out. i know that those things that stick out drive the cams. im confused wondering how the heck they got lost, and even more lost when im trying to find them. will i have to buy a whole new cam gear set? it would probably help if I knew what the actual name for the parts are...I went to autozone with the gears and showed them all, even they are clueless. i already expected them to be though lol. thanks everyone

Each gear has the pin. Goes in the center hole.
And yes, you need them...likely have to go to the dealer for the missing one.

There's only 1 pin in the back of the cam gear. If there is none, then its useless unless you find another pin (same size) and force it into place so it doesn't come out.

OR you could just buy another cam gear for cheap...i have 2 :naughty:

i know people, i know. i already said that I had expected them to be clueless. im no fool. my car doesnt run. i had to use parents car and they are crazy, so i could only goto the nearest place.

Well I got the little pin earlier this morning. The pin just slides all the way through the hole in the gear. I just don't get it. Am I missing some tiny little seal or something?

Goes through the gear into the camshaft, and is held in by a big washer and the bolt on the end of the camshaft.

well before i came back here i put gorilla glue in the hole. That wont mess anything up will it? The pin is solid.

I suggest you take the cam gear off and clean all that junk out now before it causes you or someone else pain later.

this car is gonna be mine forever, i glued into the gear. The other gears pin was stuck also. next time these cam gears come off is the time i get some adjustable ones.
