finally have a mechanical update on the car

picked up the tilton and the input shaft today

instead of just redrilling the bolt pattern in the flywheel, my machinist cut plugs, welded them in, machined the back flat, and then drilled the bolt pattern in, those guys are awesome. still need to get the flexplate welded on and the FW balanced though.

they also machined the snout of the viper input shaft down shorter and to the diameter that i need for the pilot in the crank, i took a pic but the angle is wrong and you cant see the machining

also picked up a new daily this past week, was originally looking at TE72's SS Camaro, but my dad said i could not for any reason other than dire necessity work on it, so i had to look for something not needing work.

got this, 1998 Formula Firebird WS6 - 1 of 221 made in 98

Rebuilt motor
Built auto w/ 3200 Stall
Motive 3.73's out back
Headers w/ True duals
LS6 Intake manifold

its setup for drag right now and it pulls pretty good, i need to change the tune in the ecu, its eating through gas right now.

well this build is on hold for a while. what i originally thought to be a sticky lifter, has now turned into knock on the motor. so i have to pull the firebirds motor and rebuild it

started to re-loom the harness with braided loom instead of the plastic tubing

p1626728_2.jpg

re-drilled for the stands on the fuel rail (1J rail on a 2J lower manifold)

man you are putting in work....engine in engine out engine in engine out and again and again lol....but it is looking good.

at this point, ive actually lost count of how many times ive pulled the engine. it takes no time at all to pull it anymore

im going to have some work done to it to match the 1JZ head bolt pattern. which means modifying 4 of the bolt holes on the manifold.

but it lets me run the greddy 2J plenum

felt alright today, so did some work on the car.

got a 1/4" spacer plate (input shaft was 1/8th" too long) for the T56 from Quicktime Performance. now it all fits up nicely, just a lil more work to be done on the clutch and its ready to go in the car to get the crossmember fabbed up

p1627504_1.jpg

put my turbo a duct in...........didnt realize until i put the bumper on that i mounted it about 1/4" too low, so gonna redo that tomorrow
