It's funny how everyone keeps trying to say that one year of the MK3 is the "best" there is no "best", just what you like the most. It's all about personal opinion and preference. You can't say there is a best year.

No, you're wrong. 88 is the best year :icon_bigg

Seriously surprised by the lack of 91-92 swinger's over here, no doubt they will be in soon claiming their lower production numbers, sunroof and airbag make them the ultimate a70 ;).

I think your opinion sucks (thread starter). Best year imo was 92. Best interior, last mk3, not a pre89 basically :)

Im with you on the 92. Everybody makes mistakes the first time around. Im glad they fixed that problem. It's basically opinions and to each his own. I say thread closed, before whe get long posts and useless pages about which one is better. At the end nobody wins and someones bound to get there feelings hurt cuz there car doesnt look like this

However there are negatives:
☼: Taillights are ugly and require 89+ conversion immediately
☼: 6M crank
☼: No birdcage coolant light :( :nono:
☼: 89+ 3 piece looks a bit better
☼: Not as new as 89+ (age, wear and tear, etc.)
☼: 91/92 wheels look a bit better I guess, but sawblades have grown on me. They look better in person and even more better when black
☼: Steering wheel is hideous but at least there arent airbags. 89+ 3 spoke is HOT.

My 87 had the birdcage coolant light, as well as my 90 and 91. Did they leave it out and then brought it back?

Climate control was just plain evil on ALL my Supras! Those things are really possessed, regardless of the year.

I like that they put wider stock tires on the newer models. Not sure if that was an 89 or 90 change.

89+ from a durability standpoint is better

-reinforced rear subframe
-7M crank
-stronger block

Also, from a design standpoint, you're wrong, the 89+ has the larger front grill that gets more air to the IC/condenser/radiator. The increased drag is due to this and the rear wing actually supplies more downforce.

The different gearing loads the turbo more, so 1/4 mile times didn't suffer because of the gear change.

I unlike others in this thread state facts. ;)

Using this pic posted earlier, my only prob wit 89+ tails is that the center piece isnt the same shade of red. But the pre89 tails are WAY to '80s. So 89+ with center piece painted to match the car FTW

☼: Earlier Supras are lighter than later ones

are they really?how come?and if they are it can't be by that much.

also how much better is the power steering in the 89+ and hows it work over the older ones.

Also I think the 88 is a great year for the MKIII theres really only three things I don't like about them. The tail lights, the moldings, and the 6M crank. But I love everything esle

USDM 89+ tails have a slightly lighter center section than the left/right lenses...not sure why. The difference is especially apparent in direct sunlight. JDM 89+ tails are much closer in color, and are a bit darker overall. See my sig.
