Car caught fire as most know. check the sig. Starting to question if the AFPR is anygood.

Its an aeromotive. it was in the hottest part of the fire. Its stained black unless i were to sand and polish off all of it. Took off the hard lines to it and everything that i can see is ok. My question is more, are there any rubber parts (orings etc) inside of it that may have melted? Nothing seized on it, so it didn't get hot enough to warp which is good at least.

***EDIT: a few of my RC injectors and clips got fried and melted (#1 took most of the hit, #2 is still a bit melted though). they are still there for the most part but the clips are very distorted. The injectors still freely rotate so the o rings/insulators didnt melt. Any chance the injectors themselves are fried/no good?

Probably cooked the diaphram

The reg is such a critical component I wouldn't risk reusing it.

:3d_frown::cry: was hoping i wouldn't hear this. Whats a way to tell its not good when taking it apart (via 4 alan screws on rear)?

I also edited my first post reguarding my RC's

Seriously I'd bin it it's just not worth taking a chance for a $200 part
(You could lean out the motor and destroy it)

The Injectors I'd send back to RC for a rebuild and they can tell you if it's worth doing.

Too many small parts that could be heat affected inside to risk using them as is.

True with the injectors. Any idea on cost to rebuild them? Never really knew they would do that.

the afpr may be rebuildable...I'd call the company and ask....injectors I highly doubt are salvageable...heat and plastics don't agree...the plastic could be brittle and could fracture if used again....

I'd be more concerned with dimensional changes as well as the annealing effect in the Reg, I still say bin it and buy a new one.

The Injectors can be rebuilt it just depends if it's cost effective to do so.

You may get away with a partial set and while they're inspecting them they can send them back as a matched set.

Give em a call and ask it costs nothing.

I would have them sent out and checked/ cleaned but I certainly wouldnt use RC - they are unreasonably expensive. I've been using www.witchhunter.com out in Wa. for the last few years - the guy is top rate, straight forward, quick and honest - but he just increased his prices. Recently heard of a place in Michigan some of the celicasupra.com guys have been using is http://www.cleaninjectors.com/ and have been real happy w/ them.
>> "His name's Tim, and he runs a tight ship. You get flow, opening time measurement, cleaned, reflowed, and all the little replaceable bits replaced for $11 each. THEN he gives you a subjective review of the flow pattern and set balance (priceless).
I trust him 100% with my stuff and wouldn't use anyone else, and I'm an ex-witchhunter convert." <<
I just use the USPS flat rate box ($8.10) and package them individually in zip lock baggies. Typically be back to you in about a week total.

he has RC injectors... he needs to send them back to RC so RC can inspect them and if they need a rebuild RC has all of the correct parts and what not..

i dont think the generic inj. cleaning places "rebuild" injectors...
If all he wanted was them flow checked, then the "cleaninjector.com" would be fine... but i wouldnt trust anybody but the OEM maker to rebuild it...

Send it off to RC or Witch Hunter. A Clean/Flow test is 17-20 an injector and comes with a sheet. That'll instantly tell you if you "fried" an injector. ;)
