Intercooler is used to drop the temperature of the pressurized air that the turbo creates. Downpipe is part of the exhaust on the exhaust side of the turbo. You will need an AFM for sure, it measures the amount of air that is being inducted into the engine so the Ecu can tell the car how much fuel to supply. You can substitute the AFM for a GM Maf sensor, for more info go to www.maftpro.com.

Man-oh-man did I get a good chuckle off of this ;).

Ok, first off, read the post on the intercooler, you have one on the car already if it's a turbo supra. The BPV (by pass valve, which is the stock blow off valve in a crude way) is up top on your engine and no where near being on the down pipe.

It's a little metal device connected to your accordian hose (the black accordian looking rubber pipe going into your turbo, which is the snail shaped thingy) and the 3000 pipe (a silver looking pipe going over the top of your engine with the numbers "3000" stamped into it) with two black hoses.

In order to actually instal a true Blow Off Valve (because if it's stock you don't have one, the stock by pass vavlve recirculates the intake air back into the accordian hose) you will probably have to either buy an intercooler hard pipe kit, or make your own with some universal aluminum piping and the flange for your BOV needs to be attached to the piping so you can bolt it down.

Your turbo supra (if this is what you have) already has an AFM on it, it is right after the air filter (big round plastic looking box) and and right before the accordian hose (mentioned earlier). I suggest doing some research around here before you touch the AFM. Know this: If you DO NOT recirculate the air from an aftermarket blow off valve back into the accordian hose, you will run rich due to the unmetered air escaping into the atmospher and the car will tend to backfire between shifts, and even stall out on some vehicles.

To solve this, attach a hose to your blow off valve and plumb it back into the accordian hose ;). Does this answer your questions?
