I picked up a 1988 Toyota supra 7mge about a month ago, and it has been an on going project figured I would post it up here and keep ppl updated. So it starts that I found this loan supra in Cranston RI. where she was basically left for dead. $300.00 later it was mine and i towed it to my driveway where it has been resting on jack stands ever since. So the direction im going with the build is to turn this from a 7mge to a 7mgte I have purchased so far...

Intercooler,
Oil cooler,
Turbo gauge cluster,
CT26 Turbo charger
and some JDM yellow foggs that were originally for my subaru but will fit the supra fogs.(speaking of which I need a driver side one if someone has it lol)

To come in the very near future hopefully placing the order next week will be the 7mgte motor direct from Japan $1000.00 shipped to my door and then its to throw it in and get it going.

Other then that I think i have covered all the bases and will be sure to keep this updated as the build goes on here are pics of what I have thus far.

Thanks for looking

Ok so now that i got screwed on the JDM spec motor i went ahead and made my way to maine where i scored a nice deal on a 7mgte body and the rest of the car is junk all the motor needs is a new cam positioning sensor. Im going to be ripping her out this weekend and hopefuly get it in the gray car if i have the time im picking up the new radiator from toyota tomorrow and the sterio equipment will be photographed and put up here soon as well. Thanks for looking and there will be more updates soon

So i have taken the car off the jack stands to see how it sits with the suspension on it. and it looks pretty nice im just going to have to solid everything up with some beefed up sway bars and such but atleast its off the stands. Also i have the system hooked up the seat still folds down and the factory spare tire compartment is fully functional. Now comes the time to swap the motors out. almost there tho. Ill update once the swap is underway.

Ok so the swap has commenced me and kotu100 have began, with ripping the motor out of the gray N/A shell here is a pic of the start with the engine hoist. I will post the pics of the motor out of the car and the empty engine bay in the AM as it was too dark by the time we finished time took was about 2 hours to rip the motor out not bad considering the seized ness of the bolts and such. More pics to come soon so stay tuned.

Heres the empty bay after the pull of the N/A motor out of the 88 shell. All went according to plan and hopefuly it will be finished in the next few weeks.

Here is a pic of the N/A motor and tranny under plastic...don't know exactly what im protecting the block for all i want to keep pristine is the tranny its self as a spare just encase.

Here is the swap car and the N/A nose to nose as u can see this would not have been the best day to pull the turbo motor from the red car...crappy weather. This weekend should be nice tho. More pics to come thanks for looking. ^_^

And here is the 3" dp i just got in today ordering the 3" turbo elbow tomorrow and then the cat back is soon to come not as soon as i hope but im reaching the cap on the build for the time being but as soon as its running this will be an on going project.

Thanks keep posted for more of the build to come. ^_^

Sorry for the no pics in this part they will be added soon, So i got the motor out of the red supra ^___^ im wicked excited it took me and kotu100 a little bit as this is my first swap and to learn he had me do most of the work myself. Now its time to replace gaskets i need to go get some form in place gasket. Then clean it a bit as all the grease and grime is nutty ordering/buying the rest of my parts today...well the rest of the parts I need for the car to run. I ordered last night the turbo outlet for the DP 3" and also a hub for the steering wheel i have purchased. Stay tuned as this build has just started to scratch the surface.

why buy a jdm motor? look for a local one because your going to want to tear into it anyways. i would not just drop it in. good luck though. keep it up.

Sorry every one been at sort of a stand still on the build the last week :3d_frown: . But on the bright side of things the parts have started to roll in, as of today my steering wheel hub, Turbo outlet 3", and my stereo dash install kit have made their way to my house:icon_surp. Kotu100 and I are going to get into the motor tomorrow when my driftmotion.com package comes in. Which includes my FIPG, ARP headstuds, the tap tool and 6 NGK plugs.:werd: Also on the list of items I have added to the ever growing pile on my bedroom floor are the timing belt and head gasket. Pics will be up tomorrow after we get into the whole build stay tuned. And im off lol :kloguck:

Well I found out what its like to drop a 7MGTE on your leg...:nono:. That's what I get for not having a garage door lol. Due to the torrential rains that were having I had to get it in my garage to finish putting it together got it in there and now waiting for kotu100 to get here with the shop lights so we can start putting it all together hopefully the rain holds out tomorrow long enough that we can get it in the car. The more and more work I do and the more and more money I spend the more and more I fall in love:love:. I know its weird maby but the closer the build gets to completion the better I feel. Ill update once we get everything under way.

Stay tuned

UPDATE: So, the heads back on with the new fel-pro head gasket, and the ARP head studs (Torqued to 82ftlbs) . We also replaced the exhaust manifold gasket(Which it looks like the kid who had the car before I took the motor out had already helacoiled everything ^_^), the EGR gaskets (Auto zone didnt carry the plate cooler gasket :3d_frown:) also cleaned all the grease off the tranny and every other point that we could get to before running out of break parts cleaner. Seems everything is coming back together swimmingly I also did the spark plugs while I was at it. Tomorrow were going to try and get the motor outside and on the hoist and do the oil pan gasket with the FIPK I got. Then the only things really left are to get the R154 Driveshaft out of the parts car and slap it in. The steering wheel is complete as well found a hub for it and put everything together when we finished putting the valve covers on. Pics will be loaded after I get them off my phone and my girlfriend can get them on here. Other then that ill update some more tomorrow and see where we go from there.:bigthumb:

Nice dude! If your gonna get a new gasket for the EGR cooler, get one from toyota, the felpro ones are cheap paper and are insufficient for the application. Otherwise just leave it alone and hope for the best! Hopefully it doesnt rain tomorrow.
Im plannin on pickin up my motor monday so with any luck I'll be on the road soon as well.
