hey ive looked but i cant find if anyone has used the w58 with the 7mgte im not looking to make a lot of power im basicly keeping the motor stock, maybe upping the boost to 12. I just picked up a 7mgte very very clean motor all the parts include uncut wiring. should i invest in the r154 or will the w58 do the job. any help would be nice thanks

I had an 89 turbo converted to manual and all i had laying around was the w58 so i used that, and the only problem I had was the clutch was slipping a bit. So i bought a different clutch because i had around 300hp at the crank and boosting 10-12 psi. So after the clutch install (don't get 6 puck it chatters too much) i haven't had any problems holding power or anything.

I have 7mgte with a w58 (car was originally NA). I have 3.5" catback. 3" dp, intake, ported head, and about 8-9psi boost and it holds fine. You'll need to upgrade the W58 clutch as it won't hold a turbo engine. You'll also need to use the W58 flywheel but it bolts right on.

i ahve a w58 stuffed into an mkii w/ a 7mgte. @ 12 psi i put down 324rwhp, and 317.5 rwtq

400hp is about the limit for them though in the pig's mkiii and mkiv, though the mkii is a lighter car, so 450 might be attainable.

i've seen third let go around 400hp though.

I was pushing around 300rwhp/ 300rwtq through mine for a while, with a very, VERY heavy right foot. Upgraded clutch, and lightweight flywheel, and it was still holding like a champ. :)

400rwhp seems to be the golden mark, but if you drive like a grandma, it'll last you forever. I romp on mine because I have an r-154 sitting in my garage simply waiting to get bolted in. :)

Shoudn't be a problem. Though even at stock power, the clutch for the W58 should be upgraded.

The W58 shifts better than the R154. It took me a while to get used to the feel after I swapped in my R154.

my friends brother put down 480whp in his 94 na-t. not sure how its holding up now. he was going for more power than that last time i heard from him. im assuming the w58 in the mkiii and iv are the same.
