i got ahold of a turbo head, so i'll be throwing that on top of my GE block. i was wondering if anyone has ever run the GE with the GTE head+cams? i know some of the guys have run the GTE with GE cams for more power at the bottom end, but has anyone done the opposite?

oh and also the GTE head i got has an open passage on the short side, looks as if exhaust passed thru and it's developed a bunch of deposit, it's hard but semi-soft like styrofoam? on my GE head it's blocked off and i'm not sure if i should block it off or not

If it's on cyl.6, and goes toward the back of the head, it's for the egr. Clean it out really good if you're going to use the egr(along with the rest of the egr system). If not, thread that hole and put a plug in there.

i had GTE cams in my GE for a little bit. it seemed different but i coudn't tell what. when i get back home i'm gonna rebuild my GE motor and throw the GTE head on so i can get rid of EGR.

so there's no one out there that has any evidence of the GTE cams in a GE??

this is odd, i really think we need to get some concrete information on this

Uhh then put them in and go to the dyno. But dyno sheets on turbos have proved that you will lose low end power. probably wont make it up on the top too since you have no turbo to make the power.

ACIS MY FRIEND.

plus, the higher compression to compensate for the turbo's lack of power at the low end

am i just being a stubborn idiot?

PM Blackcat and ask for a copy of his dyno sheet using GTE cams in a GE.

Made good power up top. I think 116 RWKW not bad for an NA.

I had the turbo intake cam in mine for a while & liked it.
It has 10 degrees more duration than the NA cam & slightly more lift.
The exhaust cams are identical.
Got reasonable power out of it, 155 RWBHP, with only exhaust mods but our Aussie dyno figures are always lower than yours.
Only had an adjustable cam on the intake so could not really adjust as much as I wanted but could have got more out of it by retarding timing further.

that curve looks really nice, i think i'm probably going to go thru with it and see how i like it. i'll be going turbo soon anyways, so i'm saving myself a little time in the end

thanks for posting that.

lol does anyone actually have proof that the turbo cams made a difference compared to the N/A cams on a Supra? :)

Seems like a lot of work for a very small/non-existant result.

the head of my car is already off and i have to install a pair of cams in the GTE head regardless, whether it be turbo or n/a it's gonna be the same amount of work

We'll see. I doubt it'll make much of a difference on our N/As cause our cars don't really flow as much as turbos. Turbo vs N/A cams on the turbo dynos made supposedly a 30 RWHP difference, but I don't think it'll do anything for our cars. :(
