I have a 1989 nonturbo supra. My roommate finished swapping a gte into his 88 about a year ago. I intended on waiting to get out of school to swap a 7mgte into mine, but shortly after riding in his for the first time I changed my mind. I plan on staying stock for the most part besides full 3 inch exhaust and blitz dd bov. The block, head and crank all came back from the machine shop about a week ago so assuming I have all of the right parts and bolts then it shouldn't take too long to build. For some extra comfort I bought ARP rod bolts, head bolts and a metal head gasket. Anyway I will update this thread more as the build/swap progresses.

Went ahead and mocked up the gauges so it would be one less thing to do once it goes in. I left them in for a day or two and pulled them back out. It was too ricer to leave them in until the engine is done.

nice man, diggin the black supra.

couple Q's...
Are you painting the block and other parts?
Did you take the plugs out of the crank and clean all the oil passages out?
and your puttin in new oil squirters right?

looks good man, lookin forward to seein progress.

I am going to leave the block how it came back from the shop. They painted it with some kind of paint.
The machine shop took the plugs out of the crank and cleaned that all out.
The oil squirters are the original ones that came with the block...I just let them soak in mineral spirits for a few hours before I put them back in. They seemed to clean up very well.

mkay. well ive seen tests on used oil squirter flow, and it varied so greatly from a trickle to full pressure cause of the spring inside just dies. but i went na-t so, no need for them anymore.

I'm his roommate he mentioned. And he's lucky I did my swap first that way he learns from all my set backs and little mistakes ha. Can't wait to get her done!

I took the white cover off to just leave the letters behind and it looks much better. I will get a picture sometime.

Went out again last week and got the oil pump driveshaft in. That guy was fun, but we got the bearings down to size so it's all good to go. Just waiting on a few bolts to get the oil pump on and then the front engine cover goes on, pan and then head.
