Here is the deal. as long as yours comes with a rear sump it will be fine. It really is not as hard as any of these people say it is. I'm guessing all the nay sayers have never actually done the work themselves. A 1j is a 1j it is actually better to get one from a family sedan that has not been beat on its whole life speacily if you are just planning on dropping it in with out rebuilding it. Opinions all very but in my own, Knowing from learning say to get the cheapest rear sump 1j with tranny and wiring uncut with ecu together and then buy the gasket kit and bearings from Jeff at Champion Toyota.
