strikes me that I should measure the deck height. How would I do that? I used a caliper inside each piston to measure the stroke depth and it looks like I'm down on average 0.3mm off of spec. I have a stock sized Cometic head gasket (1.37mm). I haven't measured the head yet but that won't be...
Alright, finally got some time to finish up the deck. Went all the way up to 800 grit and it's a beaut.
I have one earplug that is dangerously close to falling in ... It's in one of the tiny water jacket holes. I think I'll plug up the other holes with tape and put a compressor on the...
Finally got things moving in the right direction. Hopefully I'll get to assembly this week!
First off, this is what it looked like when we pulled it apart:
Tons of carbon build up. The valve stem seals gave out ages ago and well - this proves how costly that was! The nick out of one of...
Got the head off and found a chunk missing out of a valve in #4. Guess that's where my compression went ;)
Now to find a shop in Vancouver to do the head work.
Things to order:
- BC Cams 264
- Full Ferrea valve set
- TMS 1.4M gasket (once I get confirmation head doesn't need much...
Well, I started this thread 9 years ago ;) I've had the car running nearly full time until about 1.5 years ago where I burnt a valve on #4 and lost most compression.
So, I've migrated over to a friend's garage and we're tearing it down, rebuilding the head and get it running again...
Hey All,
It's been a few years but it's time to pull the motor and get it rebuilt. I'm looking for a shop in the Vancouver area that has experience with 7Ms and will tear down/build up my engine with all forged internals.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
-Chris
what are you driving these days, Don?
unrelated question: my car is really rough to start when it's cold. Stutters for ~10 seconds like it's about to die, then fires up no prob. Cold start injector?
Looks like the ATTiny has 3 ports, a A(3 bits), B(8Bits) D(7bits). Looks like you've used port B for the LCD.
Do you have a part # for the keypad?
You *should* have enough I/O pins, but what you'll probably find is that working with limited ports r/w data to shared ports can be a bitch. You...
I enjoy my Mastercraft stuff, especially considering the limited amount of wrenching I actually need to do. Their 'Maximum' series has a lifetime warranty as well. I just watch flyers and wait for deals. For the price the quality is much better (imo) than craftsman and often much cheaper.
