Thanks! I was worried going OEM might have been a mistake.
The OEM (bottom) is very sticky compared to the Ishino Stone (top), and it has some green stuff on it I assume is extra sealant. Otherwise they are very similar.
Fire extinguisher looks like it belongs there! Does it get in the way of the jack storage?
Thanks for the details on the fuel sender. Mine occasionally stopped working for a minute or two, but I suspect I might have some ground issues somewhere.
That is a great license plate! Reminds me of...
One 12-point 14mm socket later the head is back on and torqued in three passes. I don't know how you guys do these jobs in a day, this took me hours. But all that thread chasing sure made the studs easy to put in.
Now I just have to put all the really fiddly bits back on :D
Sadly I don't have a 12 point 14mm deep socket, so no reinstall for me. But I did follow the TSRM for the head reassembly. Seems odd to put the intake on since the head is heavy enough without it, but it is not like I could get the head in position on my own.
The rubber on the injectors was...
Cleaned up the head today and finally installed the EGR cooler gasket and bolts I bought in 2013. I foolishly thought I could change that with the head in the car.
However, I did manage to change that water union and banjo pipe with the head in the car in 2013. It really thought it was never...
Is that 75 with using their lube? I have the undercut head studs because I heard they are better with a composite gasket (mine is Ishino Stone, looks like an OEM). The instructions say 90, but so many threads say 80.
What is the best thing to do?
I guess the radiator was a little dirtier than I thought :)
No clogs or leaks though. Shame it is not easy to replace this on an auto car with the Mishimoto Bru recommended.
Hi, I am trying to buy a few TODC female terminals to fix some wires on my harness.
I haven't found anything at the usual spots, like Ballenger.
According to another forum, the Toyota part number of 82998-12090 already has wire attached, so I don't want to go that route. (Plus they are almost...
Head is back with time-serts and the OEM exhaust studs I bought in 2013 are finally out of the package and living their best life!
Got some cleaning to do, but I can finally start getting ready to reassemble.
Sadly it was the head gasket, but I will flush the radiator when I get the head back and start putting it back together.
Thank you, Bru, and Pi for the support!
And thanks to Jeff for getting Supramania back again! It is the true happiest place on Earth!
I have been looking into cleaners lately and Simple Green claims the PRO Heavy Duty is safe for aluminum when diluted to 1:10 and not used with excessive heat.
The Extreme Simple Green Aircraft & Precision Cleaner claims to be non-caustic and safe on aluminum, rubber, and painted surfaces. I am...
They say always leave them wanting more, so this will be a slow build thread ;)
The Supra has run well since 2013 despite my rushing into things, largely thanks to many posts on this forum. However, something has felt off for a while and it looks like my luck has finally run out:
Machine...
This picture is really neat because it made me wonder if it was an early gen Celica or older American muscle. I had no idea it was the Supra with everything off and at that angle!
Love that you never gave up on the car!
How bad was the paint bill? I want to have paint done next year and I am...
Big thanks to Jeff, the return helped me solve an issue I should have solved on my own. Also, congratulations on the degree and success!
I know I come and go a lot, but it would be great to see more visitors.
