Changed out my fuel pump last night and found the this crap in the bottom. Some of the pieces are about 1/4" thick and the biggest is 1 1/2" long. Had the consistency of toffee, crispy when cool and sticky and tar-ish when warm. My filter sock was full of it and caused the pump to fail...
AC clutch engages, fans don't kick in, whats the dealio?
I thought it was the relay under the battery, but I can manually actuate the relay and the fans blow...

So, the ole fuel pump was in question because performance was lacking in the higher rpm range . I ordered an afpr pretty much just for the gauge so I could keep my eye on the fuel system.
I left the stock fpr in place and cranked the pressure up and it would not go any higher than 40psi...
There is this plate that mounts to the engine where the manual fuel pump would be, the fuel lines hook into it and it appears to have a small orifice for the fuel to flow through. My first reaction is to bypass this restriction, but Toyota put it there for a good reason right? Or is this just...
So it looks like the PO replaced the antenna and did not plug it into anything, I fished around in the hole under the antenna and couldn't find the connector... Am I in the wrong spot? I did a search and couldn't find any posts about it.
What am I missing?
Thx!

So, I rebuilt the engine, put the car all back together, take it off the blocks runs nice - purrs like a kitten - ready for the first test drive.
I go to throw it into reverse to back out of the garage and "grrrrrrind......"
Sooooooo.... My long awaited first drive has turned into possibly...
On the Throttlebody side, where the metal tube comes across the cam covers, where does the tube coming from the BOV connect? Vac diagram just shows it as open for some reason...
Any help is very appreciated!

I'm just trying to pop the clutch fork back into place, is there any secret to getting this thing in there? do I have to unbolt the bracket? I have searched and found nothing on this. Any help is appreciated :)
Thx!

So I searched the forum, looked it up in the TSRM, cant find any posts and the TSRM says something about a drill mark and a groove neither of which I can seem to locate.
Feeling stupid cause I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
Anyone have instructions?
Thx!

Hey!
I picked this car up last year off of CL, ended up trading a *good* 2000 Cavalier for it. It came in pieces, head was half pulled off was told the head needed to be replaced. Even came with a replacement head :) I bought the parts and swapped the head out only to find that it had a bad...
Ok, I know this has to have been covered somewhere but multiple searches have revealed nothing so please forgive me if this is a common question:
I forgot to pay attention to what direction the pistons were connected to the rods, and what side of the connecting rod is orientated toward what...
At what point do I need to replace the pistons? I just pulled them and found the exhaust sides ranging in scuffed-ness.
So... How much scuff is acceptable, if any?
Thx in advance. Terry-
It appears to have one bolt attaching it to the block, but what else is holding it on, I have pried on it a bit but the last thing I want to do is break it.
(I have searched for other posts and for a breakdown but have not found anything)
Any tips?
Hope to have my crank out tonight... :)...
I have the trans pulled and I am replacing the exhaust with something fairly free-flowing, anything I should be tweaking or checking while I have the back end of this thing apart? (As much fun as it has been, I dont want to have to do this again any time soon :)
Thx for the tips

I have 3 connectors that I seem to have nothing to connect to,
This one hangs along the drivers side of the tranny-
This one is by the master cylinder-
This one looks like a temp sensor connector but I cannot seem to find a home for it-
I appreciate your help in...
Tried to start the project today and noticed fuel trickling from the top of the stock FPR. Looks like the last guy who owned the car tried to adjust it by shoving something down into it... Are these adjustable or did the previous owner screw it up for me?
Thx! Doc-
