i found the problem. the CPS wires were loose so i just hardwired them together and it fired. it started knocking because i flooded the hell outta it and it was probably firing on two or 3 cyclinders haha. its better now, so thanks guys, you saved my a$$!!

i have redone the mechanical timing a few times, and took out the CPS and realigned the notches and stuck it back in.....no codes, the black wire going into the CPS from the harness is loose in the connector, but i dont know how to fix that. could be my problem i dont know...where should the...

TURBO!!! take off your intake pipe to the turbo and see how much shaft play you have, if you have a good bit, its your turbo. i had the SAME exact problem with my 89' and it never got low just smoked when i would coast, come to a stop, or on idle. it was my turbo, it was toast. ebay $95 with...

i just rebuilt my 89' 7mgte and i put it in, turn the key and it just wont kick over. it will turn over, but not start. it tries to, and even almost starts, but no bueno...i have redone the timing mechanically, and re-adjusted the CPS, gets REALLY close, but wont actually start. no aftermarket...

did you check your clearances when you did the rebuild? i had rod knock and i got a new cranck with MATCHED rod and main bearings, not trying to undermine you by any means just asking. use plastigage, worked good for me. ALWAYS ALWAYS have the crank magnafluxed and polished at a machine shop...

thanks ill check the codes. the wastegate has been shimmed, and it peaks at 8 or 9 psi without signs if spike, but i will investigate further.

if there isnt any damage to your crank, or rods, plastigage works well. i used it many times with no problems. Dawn dish soap and hot water works very well.

what size is the standard rod bearings? some places say its .25mm, but my rod bearings say .75mm. what does that mean? it says .75mm.

im doing a stock rebuild for the same reasons, but i also have another block i have had machined for MHG and bored and honed. stock will be ok for now, but they are right, it wont last for long. you will want your kill list to include some "special ones" for those sh!t eating grin wins!!
