Their is a sort of grinding noise coming from the alternator or belts. The battery has not died so i know the alternator is working. What could be making this noise? Thanks

Ok so when i turn the wheel sometimes it is very hard to turn but it doesnt do it all the time and it doenst do it the the full turn of the steering wheel very often but sometimes it does. The ps pump was replaced about 6 months ago.The fluid is full. What could it be? Thanks for the help
